Spacehamster Posted September 25, 2016 Posted September 25, 2016 I was able to start the helicopter after forgetting switching on the fuel pumps. It was fully running and only the female announcer voice told me that the pumps were off.
Buzzles Posted September 25, 2016 Posted September 25, 2016 Likely not a bug. The fuel pumps (left and right) are for feeding the service tank. The service tank pump is a boost pump. Still possible to gravity feed the engines when pumps are off: See AlphaOneSix's presentation on the fuel system: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=151933 It would be a bug if you can keep them running once you empty the service tank. Spacehamster Posted September 25, 2016 Author Posted September 25, 2016 I assumed it is a bug because the RI65 warning system kept warning of it.
Looney Posted September 26, 2016 Posted September 26, 2016 When the service tank runs out, you're engines will cut-out if the feeder pumps are off. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Commodore 64 | MOS6510 | VIC-II | SID6581 | DD 1541 | KCS Power Cartridge | 64Kb | 32Kb external | Arcade Turbo
DeMonteur Posted April 2, 2020 Posted April 2, 2020 Not a Bug This is not a bug but it is RL behaviour. Engines do not need electric pumps to be running to start up and keep working until ~6k ft alt without service fuel pump on because they have mechanical fuel pumps. Only problem is that you will deplete fuel in service tank in about 20 mimutes when at least one fuel pump is not on. If only one is on, it is no big deal again since fuel tanks are interconected. 132nd vWing
