Pizzicato Posted October 3, 2016 Posted October 3, 2016 (edited) Hey guys, The Mi-8 has a wide variety of external lights, but I have no idea during which phases of flight (or under which conditions) a real pilot would use them. Navigation Lights Formation Lights Anti-Collision Lights Flasher Taxi Lights Landing Lights Some of them are kind of obvious (e.g landing lights/taxi lights), but even then there are subtleties and nuances, e.g. Do you use landing lights during take-off? Do you use them during the day? At what point do you turn them off? When do you turn them on during approach? I'd love to get some insights into the correct usage of the various external lights so I can start using them a little more accurately. Any thoughts and insights would be much appreciated. Looney Posted October 4, 2016 Posted October 4, 2016 Anti collision before APU/Engine start-up Navigation lights, anti-coll, blade tip and taxi light when taxiing Nav light and anti coll light when flying to the operation area. When "Fence in" is called, turn off all lights except formation lights if needed. When "Fence out" is called, normal flight lights without formation lights When landing, Landing light, nav lightd and anti coll light. 1 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Commodore 64 | MOS6510 | VIC-II | SID6581 | DD 1541 | KCS Power Cartridge | 64Kb | 32Kb external | Arcade Turbo
