HeadHunter52 Posted October 10, 2016 Posted October 10, 2016 Anyone experience an increase in the number of wings you break pulling out of dives? I and a few buddies feel like the ship is more fragile in this regard lately. saburo_cz Posted October 11, 2016 Posted October 11, 2016 Hi, not wings but ailerons leave wings nearly always when Pony met 505MPH IAS at low altitude, without any Gs stress.. It was not before. Funny you should say that, but I just broke a P51D wing twice in the last 4 days and I have not done so for so long back I can't remember; I thought I did not break wings anymore, lol, then I break 2 out of the blue. Just thought it was down to me though, as I was fast at the time and at about 400 mph and rolled over a little to try and get a guns solution at the end of a throttled back dive. Happy landings, 56RAF_Talisman
HeadHunter52 Posted October 13, 2016 Author Posted October 13, 2016 Yeah. 5 of us were hit with the surprise. I don't think we've all become so altered in our flight skill set that we're in new territory. Pulling 4Gs+, sometimes near black-out. I'm never more than 40% fuel, usually at 30 to start. Likely near 25 or 20 when it happens as I fly a bit before engaging. None of these conditions are new or rare for me. I wouldn't question in too much except that other pilots are seeing it, and two of them are veterans with the bird. Anyway, just seeing if others are having this issue before I go further.
