F-5E Wingtip Tanks

I have seen a couple of pics in the F-5E Skin Contest section showing the F-5 with wingtip tanks.

But I don't see Wing tip tanks as an option in the loadout screen ?

Can I add Wingtip fuel tanks to the F-5 ?

yes it is a mod, but if you have it installed, you won't pass IC, and also, they aren't functional

Like razo+r said, is a mod done by skatezilla.... and serves as aesthetic purposes, because it is not functional...

Surely it should only be for aesthetical purposes - because as far as I know - from research when I used to enjoy watching all the different NATO F-5's in the '70's, only the Freedom Fighter had the wingtip tanks - the Tiger was never meant to.

 

Could have changed since then, of course - but at that time, this was the official line.

 

Edit: I just did some more research and this was definitely the case back then.

A/Bs had the 50 Gallon Tanks,

 

E/Fs Didnt use them, I just did it for the "A/B" Liveries..

 

As for "use", the AI Uses them fine, as they are not restricted by cockpit systems and wiring,

 

I never verified if external fuel on the tip pylons ever showed up for the player, it would likely depend on if the stations allowed it in the PSM/PFM DLLs

 

if so, then groovy, if not, it still adds the weight of 50 Gallons of fuel to each wingtip, so be careful.

 

I just use them in A/G Missions, when I dont need AIM-9s and dont wanna fly w/ empty tips.
