Maiser Posted November 2, 2016 Posted November 2, 2016 Hello, i Wonder if this happens and if it does, i would like to know if there are plans to implement it in dcs in the future. I am asking this because i was trying to fight a su 27 in map editor and its missiles totally outrange my super 350(this medium range one has something like 8 milles range, While i have read some su27 missiles have insane ranges).
myHelljumper Posted November 2, 2016 Posted November 2, 2016 No and no, mirage 2000-5F are fox3 capable, mica-em, that have a better range. The 2000C that we have never carried them. Helljumper - M2000C Guru Helljumper's Youtube https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCK3rTjezLUxPbWHvJJ3W2fA
Chrinik Posted November 2, 2016 Posted November 2, 2016 The Super 530D is roughly 10 years older then the R-27ER...around the time the 530D was introduced the biggest stick the Soviets had was the R-27R, which is roughly comparable. And I get decent launch ranges out of the 530D by employing it in the regimes it was designed to operate in...namely 20000 feet and higher. 8 Miles? You must be flying in the weeds. Erk104 Posted November 2, 2016 Posted November 2, 2016 I have been fairly successful with the 530Ds but I have to be close. Even at 20,000 feet the AI or human pilots always notch(or put me at their 9 oclock) which makes me lose lock this defeats the missile. I always wait until they are within 6 miles to launch that way they don't have time to finish their 60-90 degree turn for the notch. This does not help me when facing a Mig-29 or Su27 with Radar missiles. I must notch them and defeat their missiles first. ECM helps a little.

Like myHelljumper has said, the upgraded Mirage 2000-5 is using modern MICA-Missiles which are fire and forget missiles (either active radar homing or infrared seaking) with much greater range. But because we are flying the Mirage 2000C we won't get them. Intel i7-12700K @ 8x5GHz+4x3.8GHz + 32 GB DDR5 RAM + Nvidia Geforce RTX 2080 (8 GB VRAM) + M.2 SSD + Windows 10 64Bit DCS Panavia Tornado (IDS) really needs to be a thing!

After the Super 530D firing you must turn left or right by 45-50° to reduce closing rate (F-Pole maneuver), and dive to stay lower than your target and keep it in "look up" to defeat the notch attempt. Of course you can only do it from high altitude. But fighting at FL350, I can reliably defeat "Excellent" AI Su 27 with R-27ER, using jammer and shooting from 20-22Nm. Mirage fanatic ! ZHeN Posted November 4, 2016 Posted November 4, 2016 So the Mirage 2000 went into service with Fs? Wow... But anyway, thanks. I wasn't discussing M2K's weaponry It was about soviet weaponry vs. french (and I didn't mention R-40 and R-24 ...) of different cold war periods [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
