Software for voice recording

Is there any good (and free) program for doing voice recordings, where you can add effects like radio noise and other things?

Audacity

 

It doesn't do what you want right out of the box (click and done) But if you add a high-pass filter and amplify the sound by a couple of dB you get a pretty good effect.

 

if you add an empty second track, apply some white noise, use the same high-pass filter and use the amplifier to actually reduce the output by a few dB to create a static effect or to use as a sound for when the radio turns on or off.

+1 Audacity is super simple and like they said completely free. Check YouTube, I think Ranger79 has a tutorial on what he does too make his voice overs

I recently switched to reaper. It's not free but can be evaluated for free and the license costs 60$, which is extremely cheap for a sequencer.
