How to experience almost every WW2 fighter cockpits in VR

- Download War Thunder

- In the plane selection screen, klick on a „premium“ plane (golden)

- Hit „test flight“

Here you go! Dozens of planes to go through! I've spend several hours just to go through each and every one. Needs a bit of time though since you have to make an account.

But there are almost every ww2 fighters in there to test flight, and since you own a VR headset you will know that it can be simply breath taking just to experience a cockpit in it’s real size and space.

You can also fly around and shot and even land on carriers.

The FM is pretty bad though. But it’s so much fun to just check out the different cockpits!

My favorites:

- Japanese Ki-43 Zero, the guns are sticking right out of your cockpit, lots of bars that block your view, rally cosy...

- Russian Pe-2, WOW what a view! You can look through your glass nose and you feel like sitting in a tall building! Amazing flight over Stalingrad

- German Me-110, wingspan!

- Switch between a Me109 and a P-47 - how much more space you have in a Thunderbolt its amazing!

Oh, and just hop in an American Corsair F-5 and look down between your feet. Never ever noticed that you sit so… well, check it out yourself ;)

2nd Oh, I’ve noticed that all of the cockpits feel a bit bigger than they are in DCS, and I have to say it looks a bit more realistic that way, I think the DCS’s are a bit too tiny imho.

Its really great! Can’t recommend it enough :)

Interesting. Thanks for that. Didn't know they supported VR.

They do, but unfortunately cockpits are far from accurate in most of planes...

One of the best parts about War Thunder is the ability to get 90 fps without ATW/ASW interpolating frames. The fluid flying is great - but make sure you get out the old Oculus Debug Tool and set up Pixel Density Override (Render Scaling) at 1.4 or better - they don't have it incorporated yet. You also have to choose the PostFX effects in the graphics options and fiddle with that to reduce image shimmer.

Try some of the User missions or Single Missions - not many available at the start - but the Chronicle of a Dive Bomber mission is quite fun at treetop level.
