Canopy is very important for the 3D as we can see in the F-86, that's a perfect module all around. When you have a so good FM, and a so good 3D......whoooooo, wonderfull. Mirage model deserves the same quality.

There are people involved in coding and others in modelling, everything is important in the same way. The same for lights, another critical "cosmetic" effect for a module. Actually, fo rmy opinion, only A-10C has a credible (realistic) lighting effect. Third parties should have to pay more attention to these details.

In a flight sim, the immersion is also provided by "cosmetic", so it's very important as well, a must for DCS.

Only my two cents off course.

I will check Starway mod asap. Thank you!

Well, I know times have changed, but I remember a time when "lighting" was a green and a red rectangle on the wing tips that went more light red/green when on!

The plane was a bunch of polygons, the Golden Gate some red lines over a blue pane.

I still was immersed, and had a near orgasm when the "lights" switched on for the first time.

Btw fps were more like 60 frames per minute.

That was "Jet II" with an "F-18" and an "F-16"... no other planes, ground targets, etc.

Shagrat

3rd party Modellers and Developers all have different methods for creating textures and meshes, it's not all going to be the same...

Bump!

We still don't have news or update about the canopy, so just some questions.

I was trying to mod it mysel too, working on all the files (specular included that seems too be a very interesting file) but it's still too dark, even if the reflection effect is very good.

Actually, the original M2000C canopy is clear as it should have to be, looking to the real pics, but is still too "opaque". Plexiglass reflection is totally missed.

How can we create/reproduce this effect? Just working of alpha channel? If yes, looking at the F86 file for ex., it seems more darker than M2000C even if it's almost perfect, if not the best canopy in DCS. What about the other files, like specular for ex.?

This canopy should have to be the our task i think, waiting for some love from the M2000C modeller/artist of course......
