Braeden108 Posted December 6, 2016 Posted December 6, 2016 I notice no one seems to use any locking lever switches in their builds. I'm wondering why, I just got some from digikey. And boy are they amazing. If you're not familiar with locking lever switches, they're switches that you have to pull up on in order to move. If you look around most cockpits all the switches that aren't the basic teardrop shape are probably locking lever. 1 Light the tires kick the fires! [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
hansangb Posted December 6, 2016 Posted December 6, 2016 I think for realism it makes sense. But for sim users, it may be more annoying than it's worth. I definitely would find it annoying especially because I'm building the switchboxes for VR use. hsb HW Spec in Spoiler --- i7-10700K Direct-To-Die/OC'ed to 5.1GHz, MSI Z490 MB, 32GB DDR4 3200MHz, EVGA 2080 Ti FTW3, NVMe+SSD, Win 10 x64 Pro, MFG, Warthog, TM MFDs, Komodo Huey set, Rverbe G1
RAZBAM_ELMO Posted December 6, 2016 Posted December 6, 2016 They also tend to be much more expensive than standard dpdt or 3pdt switches of the same dimensions. I can definitely see them being more realistic and for the vr box crowd would reduce the likelihood of you accidentally flipping one. EricR Posted December 6, 2016 Posted December 6, 2016 Would love to have and use locking lever toggles, but like Oberfeldwebel Elmo said. I just can't justify shoveling out that kind of cash.
Sokol1_br Posted December 6, 2016 Posted December 6, 2016 E-Switch models is not too expensive, starting from 4.50$: http://www.digikey.com/product-search/en/switches/toggle-switches/1114212?k=&pkeyword=&v=141&pv545=6&FV=fff40011%2Cfff80064&mnonly=0&newproducts=0&ColumnSort=0&page=1&quantity=0&ptm=0&fid=0&pageSize=25
Goblin Posted December 6, 2016 Posted December 6, 2016 My throttle has two locking lever switches. The gear handle is actually a surplus SF-260 landing gear handle :) 1
RAZBAM_ELMO Posted December 7, 2016 Posted December 7, 2016 I see it being only useful in F16 or a10 pits. Plus 20% price increase over an standard dpdt switch can add up when you're putting a pit together. Sent from my SM-G900W8 using Tapatalk Know and use all the capabilities in your airplane. romeokilo Posted December 7, 2016 Posted December 7, 2016 I had them in my AHCP but ended up removing them. They looked great, but the major flaw is that to feel good when being used they need to be mounted very well. I have an MDF main instrument panel and acrylic panels- no matter how tight it was all bolted down and braced the panels would flex when I pulled out to move the switch. Made the whole thing feel flimsy. If I had a full metal pit I'd put them back in but I'm not made of money... Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk
