DeepDrummer
Dry sump explained: Page 2 of that PDF clearly states the oil is stored in a tank and not a pan. I drag raced for years. Many used this type of "dry sump" Nice pic of it here. Still trying to find the accumulator again. http://www.museomotori.unipa.it/posters/26.jpg Win 10 pro 64 bit. DeepDrummer
The Spitfire could not fly inverted very long as it would run out of fuel. The issue is from the carburetor float bowl. And no, the Bf109 was not having this issue as the germans added a direct fuel injection. This is Why the in BoB, the Bf109 was superior, just the german pilots were not up to speed. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Miss_Shilling%27s_orifice Miss Shilling's orifice although used at the time of the battle of Britain, was not used in the MK IX. It had a Pressurized Carburetor. No float. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bendix-Stromberg_pressure_carburetor Win 10 pro 64 bit. Intel i7 4790 4 Ghz running at 4.6.
