selu_99 Posted October 26, 2006 Posted October 26, 2006 HI. Im gonna buy a new laptop with a very recent graphics card that equals or even is better than desktop 6600gt (at least in all game benchmarks). This laptop has 1 giga of RAM, and a core duo 2Ghz. I would like to know if i will be able to get 40 or more fps, at 1024 x 768, and highest graphics quality without AA or AF. What will happen when going tru cities? what will be the minimum THANKS!!!

What will happen when going tru cities? what will be the minimum... Hi 'selu_99', I have a 6600GT (PCI-e) card and I play Lock-On at 1280*1024 (without AA/AF - Medium/High set) on an Amd 3000+ - 1Gb Ram. I'm over 24-25 fps over the cities and 35/40+ up in the sky (without explosion or anything else). I think you don't have any probs with your Core Duo. It considers however that with a little much money you can get a 7600GT: another generation card. Bye Phant

Take that as read ;) At a mix of medium and high settings it will still look good and be playable - te Core 2 Duo will help, but it's still not going to be maxed out. The Minimum FPS . . . . will depend on the graphics settings you choose, it's as simple as that. If you max it out then expect single-figures FPS over a city with lots of units in the mission. You'll just have to figure out a good compromise for you . . . . . http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v121/britgliderpilot/BS2Britgliderpilot-1.jpg
SuperKungFu Posted October 27, 2006 Posted October 27, 2006 It will not allow you to play on max graphics (maybe medium/high). I'm using a 7600 and i still play on medium/high. Don't expect too much especially since ur running on a laptop. I'm planning to get a core2 duo 2.0 ghz, 1 gig of ram and a 7900 next month and i'm pretty sure it won't run max graphics. Kuky Posted October 27, 2006 Posted October 27, 2006 over a larger city you can expect 10-20 fps even with fastest Conroe CPU. Anyone saying you'll get 20+ with all maxed out AND over a city ... is just bull. 3Sqn_Fudd Posted October 27, 2006 Posted October 27, 2006 te Core 2 Duo will help, but it's still not going to be maxed out. I'm planning to get a core2 duo 2.0 ghz He didnt mention it was a Core 2 Duo... I'm not sure where he is, or if it matters but in N. America the words "Core" and "Duo" are getting thrown around so much that I'm not sure some people can tell the difference. Core Duo/Core 2 Duo/Centrino Duo are very different things, sans the underlying differences in the mobile chip variants. The performance Core Duo mobile chips can be quite ordinary... I would be very very careful trying to play this game (especially under the above requirements) on a laptop. Just remember to google for specific chip benchmarks... that should be your guide http://3sqn.com/forum/ Here's to 1.13 -- > http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h0488djMDBU

selu_99 Posted October 29, 2006 Author Posted October 29, 2006 no way yeah, with x1900 of course you can get 20+ fps! well, if you really look, lock on came out on 2003. 6600gt came on november 2004, being mid-high range of the time. Im just asking to run at 1024 x 768 highest settings, and you tellin me that i wont even get 10 fps above cities??!!! so at the time lock on came out, no video cards could run the game at maximum??!! you telling me that, in lock on i will get 10 fps at that res and quality, when with 6600gt you get 40 fps at 1024 x 768 highest settings in FEAR!!! THAT SOUNDS IMPOSSIBLE!!! sorry to say so please, I would really like if everybody with a 6600gt playing lock on could tell me the veredict. Please be factual:thumbup: THANKS YOU ALL!:smilewink:
