Hi all!

I got a boxed copy of DCS Black Shark for Christmas. I currently have DCS World installed on my computer, along with the A-10 module (which I got a boxed copy of ages ago). I have not installed it from the disc, because I 'thought' that somewhere in the DCS World interface I can tell it that I have it, input my serial key, and just get it to download from there. I can not for the life of me figure out how to tell DCS World that I have a copy of this game. It will take me to a page to 'buy' it - but there is no where from me to input a valid serial number. (but not really, because it wants me to buy DCS: Black Shark 2, this is just DCS: Black Shark)

Help please!

Not sure if this works or not.

Log in to DCS mainpage (not forum)

Go to profile

Theres a box for license check.

Enter number there. Then enter game . Log in and go to module manager and see if it lets you download and install Black Shark.

Good idea, but no dice. It actually correctly lists the key as belonging to Black Shark and that it is an unused key, but it basically says it's not tied to my account.

In searching I've found twice the answer is to log in and go to profile page and "bind serial number to account". Cant see how to do it though.

Even under Support / technical questions it describes what I said as the way to bind a serial number.:helpsmilie:

There used to exist an upgrade to BS2 from BS1, but its no longer available as ED states here:

Ah, ok, that sucks! I have the physical disc, so I can just install it that way, I just like the interface for DCS World. Well, knowing that, would you guys recommend getting BS2? Is it that much different then BS1? Quite honestly, I didn't even know there was a two until a few days ago. Any idea what the differences are?

If you want to fly the Shark in DCS World, your only option is to purchase Black Shark 2.

Well if you are considering to buy BS2 you best make up your mind quickly as today is the last day of the sale. It's on a hefty discount, costing only $19,99 right now.

The biggest differences are most likely the graphics (cockpit shadows, missile trails etc). The Helicopter wingman AI was also massively updated compared to the original black shark.

Naturally you can take advantages of the other advantages in DCS world, these include:

- Much larger terrain to fly through compared to the original BS1 game.

- Much larger selection of AI assets available

- Much more capable mission editor with many new functions

There are also Ka-50 campaigns that are not available in BS1. I believe "Medvedev-2" is a new campaign. The old campaign "Georgian oil war" was massively updated compared to black shark 1. If you so wish, you can buy the "republic" campaign only for BS2.

If you have or intend to purchase the Nevada Test and Training Range or any of the other new upcoming maps, you can fly your Ka-50 there if you have BS2.

One of the biggest issues I had with BS1 was the fact that it only had a russian pit with a russian voiced betty. I do not know if that is an issue for you or if there are any mods available.

Cant compare it with the prior version since I never flew it, but I'm currently having a blast with BS2 :) ... have been the last 4 weeks learning to fly and fight on it, it's the first helicopter that I've attempted to learn on DCS.

I was used to just fixed wing planes, but this helo is simply too much fun and its gun is awesome if you like duck shooting :D .. also it's fun to practice landing on rooftops and on frigate decks :)

here I've a playlist with the better YouTube tutorials of the BS2 that I've found, so you can see for yourself:

Hope you make up your mind before the end of the Sale :)

Cheers!
