Make Testing AI aircraft's on Batumi airport I discover some AI WW2 behaviour on engine start, management, taxi and engine stop.

I was save a video capture, DCS: World 1.5.5 Update 5 (sorry by poor quality, stuttering, freezes, etc).

The test was a mission with start on batumi on fixed parking position and with parking position assigned manually at return. The aircraft tested has P-51D, Fw-190D-9, Bf-109K-4 and Spirtfire Mk-IX on AI version

1- all aircraft's dont make realistic engine start, the engine matches more as a turboprop, jet engine or a helo, not a piston engine, increase RPM from 0% at 60% with a unrealistic engine start time similar to a turbine, no warm up engine time.

2- Taxi behaviour, the AI dont make proper throttle impulse to taxi, turn or stop or start, that continue maintain 60% RPM and engine sound, and up and down taxi speed magically.

3- IA RPM never drop bellow 60% as a jet turbine rpm, include on runway approach, touchdown, etc.

4- IA has modelled radiator and engine management? some time maintain strangle takeoff climbs and 100% RPM status on straight fly.

5- IA dont use assigned manual parking slot, use the "auto" option and select the first parking available.

6- IA dont make realistic stop engine procedure, show as a jet engine or helo turbine stooping engines, not a real ww2 piston engine. The RPM drop slowly from 60% to 0%.

Not strange. AI WWII uses SFM. Try a dogfight and you will see what I mean. They will point their nose up and dissapear. No cooking engine, no stall, no penalty. That stuff is not as important with the modern jets, but It has to be updated to better fit in with the "newer" Korea and WWII AI birds, where energy fighting is very important.

Only time will tell, at least we are getting a new dm model =)

That problem is in my opinion is a major problem and should be fixed sooner rather than later.

Its a total immersion killer. I am surprised it has such a low priority with DCS.

Making the AI use AFM(PFM)/ASM would greatly complicate the code required for the AI to fly the aircraft. The current AI needs work but that would be a whole different ball game.

@cichlidfan: That it is a lot of work is not an argument. We have an AI FM (and SAMs) of 15 years ago, which behaves in a completely bizarre manner.

I got rid of my F-86 and WWII aircraft exactly because of this behavior.

Really hope that ED will step up and ditch this decades old stuff that is currently like an anvil tied to ED's leg.
