Disengage, or simply not engage during the startup procedure the autopilot cyclic roll/pitch and anti-torque channels and fly the Gazelle without that SAS ?

I didn't quite understand how the trimmer switch works in the Gazelle as opposed to the UH-1H for instance. When I used it in the Huey, it set the last cyclic deflection as the reference "neutral", but it appears like it doesn't work that way in the Gazelle ?

And no, I confess I didn't yet RTFM.... :-)

There are two trim options in the gazelle. The magnetic trim which works as you describe in the UH-1H but then a trim which works like a conventional fixed wing trim. I have both bound to my hotas but use mainly the magnetic trim.

Real Gazelle pilots don't use that magnetic trim.

Thank you guys...

Will try to find out the default assignements for both and probably bind it to TS16000 buttons instead...

Will read the Manual to check about that Magnetic ( ??? ) trim...

I was under the impression the Magnetic Trim also set the SAS pitch and heading.

On the cyclic there are 2 buttons for the SAS; with one pressed you set the course you want to fly. When you release this button, it keeps this attitude and heading. The other button is to switch SAS off. With SAS engaged you can completely release all controls for at least 3 minutes (according to the POH). Very handy when you need to grab your maps or to take a breath :-)

Note: the Mag Brake button is also connected to the SAS pitch and roll on this SA-341G diagram

Is it not the same with the SA-342M, how does the pilot tell the SAS the current attitude is the desired one to maintain ?
