Yes I would also like this as see the fps drop when I close the canopy!

System Specs: i7 8700k @ 5.0GHz (not delidded), ASRock Extreme4 Z370 MOBO, EVGA GTX 1080 SC 8GB, 32GB Corsair Vengeance LPX 3200MHz DDR4 RAM, Samsung Evo 240GB SSD, Samsung Evo 500GB SSD, 1TB HDD, Noctura NH-D15S Heat Sink, Acer VE278H 27" 1080p Monitor, Ocukus Rift CV1.

Controllers: TrackIR 5, Thrustmaster HOTAS X, Saitek Throttle Quadrant (with DIY removable collective mod), Saitek Pro Flight Rudder Pedals.

Just trying to keep my number of takeoffs and landings equal!

Wait, what? Aren't Viggen mirrors just static reflection texture now? That is, not working like real mirrors in other modules?

Haven't tested it myself yet (didn't open the canopy, that is :music_whistling:), but you say that even this fake mirror effect has a noticeable effect on performance? If so, it's pretty bad... and surprising, at least for me.

The mirrors are not actually mirrors. They only reflect a cubemap currently, so they 0 impact on the framerate. It may be that more triangles are in view on your screen, which is why your FPS drops.

Transparent textures (such as glass) also have a significant impact on Framerate, of which there is a lot on the canopy!

Cobra,

I'd like to say that I prefer these 'cubemap' mirrors over turning them away, which is the only other option in other modules.

Mirrors in DCS are very detailed and, as we all know, resource intensive. I would argue that the mirrors are too detailed, but that's for another discussion. :)

When flying VR, every little FPS counts so I usually fly with mirrors off.

My point is; can you keep these mirrors as a "simple" mirror option, instead of, or in addition to, turning them away? Even if they don't show much, they add some life to the cockpit and increase immersion.

Both this and angling them away from the player are better solutions than just freezing the last mirror image when they're deactivated like we see in several modules. Please don't do that :)

Hey guys!

Flying a lot with Viggen, it shows me that mirrors are sometimes a vital part of surviving in the battlefield (especially on ACG server ... cheche ).

Can you, Heatblur team discuss the option for implementing the mirrors with different depth of resolution/level of detail, and an option to turn them away completely? This is, IMHO an extremly helpful thing in the simulation.

The option dialog for the mirror resolution may be added in the "SPECIAL" tab in the options for the Viggen and may contain high/med/low.

What would you say?

:joystick:

Thanks and kind regards,

Yes, I will add the mirrors as functionality.

For those of you who prefer cubemap reflections only; they should revert to that if you turn them off. Though, I will investigate. Worst case, we'll put it behind a special option.
