How well do DCS 1.5 and 2.0 scale with multiple AMD GPU's these days? I'm thinking about grabbing a second rx480 and a 1440p monitor.

Current specs: I5-4690, RX 480 8GB, 16GB DDR3, win10

System specs: i5-10600k (4.9 GHz), RX 6950XT, 32GB DDR4 3200, NVMe SSD, Reverb G2, WinWing Super Libra/Taurus, CH Pro Pedals.

That card should drive a 1440p monitor just fine. Dual cards with DCS is not useful.

i used to use 6950's in crossfire and it scaled good almost doubble the fps but you pay the price in micro stutter created by crossfire......just avoid it not worth it.

I've found Trifire 7970s work quite well (go from 25fps to 70ish fps) in both DCS 1.5 and 2.0. I did have to use Medium visibility distance (large tanked FPS from 70 to 35) and also having mirrors ON increased FPS by quite a bit. Stuttering was neither here nor there.

This was using the 'AFR-Compatible' Crossfire Profile Setting in the AMD Crimson settings.

It is one way to dump money unless you consider a less than 5% chance a good starting point :smartass:

And honestly, my personal findings tell me that even 1.5.4 can use 99% GPU,,, you just need some ommps in your CPU but meanwhile my GPU runs beyond 90% in 1.5.4...almost as good as Nevada does.

With the rig in sig and high-extreme settings I get fps anywhere from 70-170fps, mostly way above 100, any airframe anywhere in 1.5.4. It seldomly drops below 100 now..with 1440p

With a 1080 or Ti, how many frames do you want ? can your Monitor reproduce them ?

I think, DCS is mostly still CPU limited, at least in 1.5.x. The faster your CPU the more GPU you can unlock. Putting a 1080Ti next to a 4GHz CPU is a waste, get your CPU towards 4.5-5GHz first

as this will unlock GPU. Unless you already stress your GPU in 1.5.x till 90+% you should first invest in a CPU and cooling.

Now, I think I should upgrade my GPU as my CPU is tilting it, BUT WHAT FOR ??

170fps in a Mi-8 is plenty, my screen only does 144fps....I am happy as it is and I hope my 980GTX will run another 2 years until 4k is down to earth:)
