Ramires Posted March 16, 2017 Posted March 16, 2017 It seems that negative G maneuvers don't have any influence on the engine. I flew negative G states without noticing any change in the engine's behavior.

Ramires Posted March 16, 2017 Author Posted March 16, 2017 (edited) Like all carburettor engines the Merlin will tend to stop after a certain time in a negative G flight maneuver. Although they installed a restrictor negative G flight attitudes were not possible for a longer period of time. I don't think the Mk IX RR Merlin was equipped with a pressurized carburettor used in late world war II engines. You can see the same behavior flying the P-51. The engine gets a too rich mixture. You'd be incorrect on that count. The IX we have has the Merlin 66 engine, so does actually have the pressurised Bendix-Stromberg carb, so neg-g flying is much less of an issue. For reference, see pages 43, 48 and others of the English manual. That said, whether or not all the affects are modelled as of yet is another issue. I've seen bug reports for unlimited inverted flight, which although a different issue, would show it's all still Early Access and WIP. Edited March 16, 2017 by Buzzles Fancy trying Star Citizen? Ramires Posted March 17, 2017 Author Posted March 17, 2017 I flew an inverted climb for approx. 30 sec.. But thanks a lot a for the information. But what about the P-51's Packard?
Hammer1-1 Posted March 18, 2017 Posted March 18, 2017 I flew an inverted climb for approx. 30 sec.. But thanks a lot a for the information. But what about the P-51's Packard? The carburetor in the P-51 isnt exactly like the one in the Rolls Royce engines. The bowl that contains the fuel isnt sealed and frequently drains when flying upside down or with negative g's.
