Fakum Posted April 2, 2017 Posted April 2, 2017 I have the Original "DCS World", "DCS World Open Alpha" & DCS Open Beta" I kept the original "DCS World 1.2" around for years just to go back occasionally to reference settings as I tinkered with setting up Beta & Alpha. DCS World now opens as 1.5.5, but I never let it update, I did let the Beta and Alpha update thru the years when prompted. Question is, although DCS World still opens, the ADD & Remove programs say its Unavailable?? I was considering removing it as I dont use it. I am about to do an upgrade with new Motherboard, CPU & Ram (whole nother matter which I'm sure will be a nightmare wit activation's etc, but not the point of this post). So, Should I try to uninstall DCS World and keep Alpha & Beta? Im trying to cut down on some Hard drive space prior to the upgrade because I want to keep the old motherboard and cpu active on another PC when I do the change over, but I have to shrink the current contents of my SSD down a bit, and this is one of the items that seems obsolete. Thanks for any feedback. Sryan Posted April 3, 2017 Posted April 3, 2017 If you require the space, then yes, you can uninstall 1.2. I believe you can simply press the windows key and type in "DCS uninstall". Should you ever desire to return to 1.2, you can follow the instructions found at the bottom of this: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/support/faq/ Check my F-15C guide
Fakum Posted April 3, 2017 Author Posted April 3, 2017 Got , read it,, thank you,,, there is no mention of the uninstall process, but I will try what you suggested. cthulhu68 Posted April 3, 2017 Posted April 3, 2017 In each DCS folder (ex.- Program Files/Eagle Dynamics/DCS World) you'll find an application called unins000 which is your set-up/uninstall wizard which will walk you through process. I think you still need to delete your corresponding folder found in Windows C./Users/Saved Games.
Fakum Posted April 3, 2017 Author Posted April 3, 2017 Understood, thank you. I dont see any need to do any deactivation's of modules for this process correct? cthulhu68 Posted April 3, 2017 Posted April 3, 2017 If you just want to uninstall a version and don't plan on using that version again no need to deactivate.
