Hey Folks

I was asked to make a skin for the F-16A mods (located below). While searching for the template, I found a lot of skins for the model already completed, but they needed to be revamped. I'm not the artist of these skins I just converted them so you all could enjoy them. These are DX5 dds files so they should work in 1.5+ and 2.0+. I don't have 2.0 installed . I would like to personally thank all of the skinners who took the time to skin these. Makes my job easier. I will release a few more skins on my own to this later down the line.

1.5+

2.0+

Any-who, Please install mod of your choosing and then download the skin pack. Here:

install via JSGME.

*** Any problems please let me know and Ill try to help. 2.0+ pilots if you use this please post here if you have any problems. Thanks***

For those pilots who use 2.0 versions. If for some reason you get the old dreaded tail numbers over top of the skins tail numbers and can't get rid of them, I may have a fix. I think they will work as is but if not then please try this fix..

There's a read me file and it will only take a few minutes of your time to do if needed.

Hey usctaylor,

Any chance you could modify specific skins to use a dynamic tail number? Specifically, the Blue, Black and "Lizard" Nellis Skins... They have a fairly significant number of them since retiring the F-15s.

Thanks

Give me some photos or what you want Sierra

Here's a start...

http://airwingspotter.com/64th-aggressor-squadron-camouflage-scheme/

Some we already have, some we do not.

We do not have the "Desert Flanker Scheme"

We do not have the "Blizzard Scheme"

We have the "Lizard Scheme", "Arctic Scheme", and "Blue Flanker" schemes but they all have static tail numbers.

If you were to set them up for dynamic tail numbers the following would work:

"Lizards"

83-XXX

86-XXX

87-XXX

"Desert"

84-XXX

87-XXX

"Arctic" "B/W"

86-XXX

87-XXX

"Flanker" (Blue)

84-XXX

85-XXX

86-XXX

"Splinter" (new)

83-XXX

Let me know is ya need any more info

I can try to create the Dynamic Tail numbers but the x's are they specific numbers too or just random

The Xs indicate Random tail numbers. I checked airliners.net and compared paint schemes against tail numbers. Would it be less work if I just gave ya a list of tails?

Your skins are very nice, but I had some issues with country markings duplication on almost all of these liveries.

You can check up the related screenshots that are into the attached zip file (there are some mistakes with some folders' names too).

The one into the red box is the paint scheme's name you can see in plane customization window of mission editor.

Could you please fix them as soon as you'll have a bit of free time? :helpsmilie:

Thx in advance fellow pilot...

Everyone of these skins works fine in my game. I'm not sure what version your running but in the ME please makes sure you get rid of assigned planes numbers. Also if you assign these as AI you will get the AC number on the tails. I haven't figured a way to get rid of them yet. No one else has posted the work around for that issue. As far as your wings go not sure what to tell ya but all of my skins work fine. Are you piloting these planes yourself or AI. If AI then again my explanation above is all I can tell ya. Thanks for the feedback though..Let me know if ya figure it out...

Wish I could help ya. Maybe shoot one of the admins or moderators a PM with this issue. Im sure they can help ya. Good Luck

Well, I have DCSW 1.5.6 and I've set the planes as AI (uncontrolled) just for skins testing purpose.

I'm working on them trying to fix for personal use. I've started from your similar skins made for bl.52d that work fine for me instead.

However I wonder how you can get no usaf marking at all on the planes showed in your pics.

Having the "USA" as country in description.lua should allow the stars to be dynamically displayed. When there are fixed country markings into the template the dynamic superimpose the latter.

By chance did you change the country name into description.lua?

The F-16A is not allowed for EU countries (they have mainly F-16MLU or bl.50) so swapping "USA" with, for instance, "ITA" prevents the usaf markings to be displayed.

Unfortunately that also prevents the whole skin to be listed if you choose Italy as country in ME just by the reason as above.

The following F-16's skins are still working fine for NATO countries, even if they are outdated:

https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/665655/?sphrase_id=6522746

Anyway I'm continuing with tests and maybe something will come out eventually...

Greetings.

Charlie after looking at the screens you sent me I did have 2 skins corrected. The 113th TFS ANG Colts and the Aviano. Please delete the Avaino and 113th Folders and replace them with these...The skins file names are all named the same. I only use US for countries. I didnt change any countries names. Basically I just converted these textures to work with 1.5.6. In fact the new Avaino f-16 I just posted is missing the USAF insignia in the wing. You can just take the file named f-16a-NED-fus.bmp from 285 Arkansas Razors skin folder and just replace it with the same skin and that will give you the insignia or if you want to try to get rid of the double marks, take that file from the aviano folder and drop it in the other folders skins of the same color and that will give you the plain wing and your game will place your marking for you.

Just a thought. JUST MAKE SURE ITS THE SAME COLOR, some are different. You get the idea..lol

How do you set that Theme? I put it in the appropriate folder but don't see how to apply it in game. it doesn't appear under Themes.

love those skins by the way. Great job!

OH Yeah these skins are only for the A and C varients ...

Kayos you have to select it in the bottom icons in games main screen. Look for the F-16A icon you can scroll left or right until you see it then click on it and set Wallpaper...Thats it buddy

Thx mate!

And don't worry... I've already noticed the different gray tones between some of your liveries (it was easy for me to see that because I used either to build and paint aircraft models when I was young 8) :smartass:) so will be careful about that.

Anyway I've one more fix to ask you...

As one can see on the pics the Netherlands AF too has the USAF-style country markings on the F-16s' wings.

At least this is true for the operational liveries (on particular liveries at airshows is not... see ff).

IMO for a more realistic skin you should delete either the roundel on the upper surface of the right wing and the other on the bottom of the left one... ;)
