sgtmike74 Posted April 22, 2017 Posted April 22, 2017 What is causing AI vehicles to stop moving along their routes? I'm trying to set up a mission where there is a large number of vehicles moving off road down a valley. They will come across a opposing AI in which they should engage, destroy and keep moving. Alarm state "RED" Dispersal under fire turned off The problem I'm having is that some of the groups will randomly just stop moving. Anybody have any ideas on why? This is for 2.0 Thank you.Desert Rumble.miz
MadDog-IC Posted April 23, 2017 Posted April 23, 2017 What is causing AI vehicles to stop moving along their routes? This has been an issue for some time between all current versions of DCSW, my theory is probably that the dispersal under fire is bugged, when it is turned off, it is still actually partially on and running broken code. By the same token, I have seen convoys swerve of the road and stop even when not engaged or near any enemy. I have seen missions with similar problem, and to fix some of the issues: Don't use varying speeds on the waypoints, keep them all the same. Try not to put too many different convoys on the same route. Set Dispersal under fire = ON, but set it to 1 sec only. Set Alarm state = Auto (They will engage when necessary but continue when enemy is cleared), setting it to RED will make them stop instantly when they are in range of any enemy and will not continue when enemy is cleared). After doing most of this, the problem can still happen though. Wrecking Crew Posted April 23, 2017 Posted April 23, 2017 Also, try splitting out air defense units into their own group. Winston 60 Posted April 23, 2017 Posted April 23, 2017 (edited) Certain vehicles must come to a complete stop to fire their weapons. When they do stop it causes the other vehicles in the same group to vary/change their speed and actions somewhat. Other vehicles that can fire 'on-the-move' sometimes act strangely until all vehicles are once again moving. Wrecking Crew Posted April 25, 2017 Posted April 25, 2017 Did I mention that Stryker units are not the best things to be incorporating on the battlefield? Visit the Hollo Pointe DCS World server -- an open server with a variety of COOP & H2H missions including Combined Arms. sgtmike74 Posted April 26, 2017 Author Posted April 26, 2017 Also, try splitting out air defense units into their own group. If they are embedded with other vehicles, would it cause a problem?
Wrecking Crew Posted April 26, 2017 Posted April 26, 2017 Yes, the Tunguskas and TORs will stop to engage, and that hangs up the armor units. Shilkas are not as bad, because they have a smaller engagement zone. You can split out the air defense into a cloned group to keep the routing and speed, and just leave ADA units in it. 1 Visit the Hollo Pointe DCS World server -- an open server with a variety of COOP & H2H missions including Combined Arms. Looney Posted April 26, 2017 Posted April 26, 2017 Best to use a few waypoints as meeting points and using some sort of scripting to allow the convoy to regroup. Otherwise you'll end up with an ADA element engaging aircrafts where the rest of the convoy troddles onwards out of range of the ADA..... :D 1 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Commodore 64 | MOS6510 | VIC-II | SID6581 | DD 1541 | KCS Power Cartridge | 64Kb | 32Kb external | Arcade Turbo
