igor793 Posted December 1, 2006 Posted December 1, 2006 1) Does anyone know how to control camera altitude for F3 (Fly-By view)? What I want to achieve is to lower the camera position. When an aircraft goes straight without changing altitude, F3 puts the external camera several meters ABOVE the aircraft. I prefer the same look BELOW the plane. Is it possible to achieve lowering camera position for F3 view by manipulating info in LUA files in ..\Lock On\Config\View folder? 2) I have achieved to lower the camera position for F11 view by setting CameraTerrainRestriction = false in Sever.lua file in ..\Lock On\Config\View folder. However the camera can go below the ground level. Is it possible to restrict the camera to 0 meters (or 1 meter) above the ground? 3) F3 view provides still camera that tracks the plane, but its position depends on the aircraft. On the other side F11 (Tower & Terrain View) provides also still camera whose position is fixed (i.e. does not depend on any aircraft position) however that camera does not follow any aircraft. Is it possible to have F11 camera automatically tracking an aircraft? 4) According to keycommands.doc Ctrl-(Key Pad 1-9) “moves camera instead of rotate it” in “EXTERNAL VIEW CONTROL”. However it does not work! Is this a bug or…? I have achieved to put F4 (Rear View) camera position by manipulating GetRearCameraPosition function in Server.lua file but it implies that I have to change the file every time I want different F4 view. With moving camera with Ctrl-(Key Pad 1-9) combination it would be much easier… thank you in advance for your help!
Teo Posted December 1, 2006 Posted December 1, 2006 Try F2 and adjust the altitude and distance from plane to get what you want, then press Ctrl+F3 - Flyby from current view! Or use the F11 view and padlock your plane. F11 and padlock can also track ground vehicles and missiles/bombs. Don´t think it is possible to restrict F11 to 0m altitude, it's ground restriction on/off only iirc.
VMFA117_Poko Posted December 1, 2006 Posted December 1, 2006 CTRL + F3 gives you possibility to track the plane from any other view. For example You can set your camera in the position where you want in F11 view. Then press CTRL + F3. The same if you'd like to skip instant from any view to F11-like by pressing CTRL + F11.
igor793 Posted December 5, 2006 Author Posted December 5, 2006 Thank you both for your answers. I do not like lowering of F3 camera by adjusting F2 camera and then CTRL-F3, since F2 should be independent + I need frequent F3 view (i.e. no time for adjustment of F2 view). In addition F2 view is not bound to the plane orientation (i.e. left-wing) and looks always to the same side of the outer world (i.e. south or west or…). Anyway, I shall consider that issues 2 and 3 are closed. However 1 and 4 are still open. I think that this very great simulation needs better adjustment of all the camera positions on the user interface.
colubridae Posted December 5, 2006 Posted December 5, 2006 Not sure i cna help with 1 and 4 above but to arrange an external view without locking in a compass direction (ie the way F2 works) use the chase view (def ctrl-F4). use this view controlled with a combination of shift-esc and up,down, left, right, To give yourself time to set up these views use pause/start. hope this helps
Ironhand Posted December 5, 2006 Posted December 5, 2006 ...4) According to keycommands.doc Ctrl-(Key Pad 1-9) “moves camera instead of rotate it” in “EXTERNAL VIEW CONTROL”. However it does not work! Is this a bug or…? I have never known this to work in any view except F-11. Ghostrida9 Posted December 6, 2006 Posted December 6, 2006 uhm...their's a file , dont remember tha Name now, i think network.cfg, their u can set tha "Camera Terrain restriction" to "false" (default is "true"), then u can put tha camera everywhere u want, even under tha Ground! aaahh damn i see u did it allready..sorry RAF Gütersloh Airbase Project If all real wars could only be fought in DCS.
