Cravgar Posted April 27, 2017 Posted April 27, 2017 Hi there, I think I know what the answer will be but I hope its not.... :) Do you have to purchase NTTR in order to host it? I've got it on my account but I use a separate account for server hosting (I assume this is the best/ only way to do it). Seems a bit backwards that you have to buy the map twice?
wash_hoban Posted April 27, 2017 Posted April 27, 2017 Yes you do have to buy it (unlike just about every other game in the universe) ... even though you will not be actually playing on it ... just hosting .... it almost seems like they dont want to support the mulitplayer community that help to promote their software Still rockin Windows 7 64bit
Kayos Posted April 27, 2017 Posted April 27, 2017 I think Wags said (correct me if i'm wrong) that they will be looking into the multiplayer servers/maps issue in the future (can't remember when, maybe after 2.5) in one of his latest videos. I think it was the SU-27 Normandy map video possibly. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
71st_AH Rob Posted April 28, 2017 Posted April 28, 2017 I think Wags said (correct me if i'm wrong) that they will be looking into the multiplayer servers/maps issue in the future (can't remember when, maybe after 2.5) in one of his latest videos. I think it was the SU-27 Normandy map video possibly. They did not give a timeline, only that it was not a high priority for them. So for the foreseeable future you will be unable to run a dedicated server without having to purchase a second copy of the NTTR map, or Normandy or any other future map except Georgia.
Scarecrow84 Posted April 29, 2017 Posted April 29, 2017 (edited) Would anyone direct me to up to date information regarding how to set up a server for 2.0? I know very little about networking, opening ports, etc. I used to be able to host servers on an old DCS build (pre1.5), but now my servers seem to not show up. Thanks Edit: nevermind, I am renting a router and that appears to be a problem. Edited April 30, 2017 by Scarecrow84
