I am familiar with the real world procedures involved with the CV operational environment that being said, how will these procedures be implemented in DCS? Will we be able to alter the carriers course or speed depending on what cycle we are on, on the fly or will this be a mission editor function? Any thoughts into this yet?

Hmmm, this is a good question. It would be nice to have a way to order (request?) course and speed changes via the radio menu. As current DCS ships don't have anything of the sort, I imagine this would require some significant work on HeatBlur's end to enable such a capability.

Right now, the only way to move ground units around is through CA, and only limited assets can be driven.

Maybe ED is working on something like this for their carrier and the FA-18? I'm hoping we aren't stuck with the mission editor settings being unchangeable, but it's still manageable with waypoints. Just need the carrier to drive a lot faster when going downwind, I guess.

While it would be great to see something more detailed implemented. We currently launch from the Bush Mod Carrier, Refuel on the way in, hit targets and Refuel on the way out to the boat and never have an issue getting out the boat as it is with it heading on the same heading(Usually 270) for the entire mission. I would think this level of complexity of implementation would be a low priority to the module and CV release. At least I hope it is:D

So is the wind setting the same in all your missions?

I am most curious how (AI) aircraft movement will be handled between cycles. After a recovery cycle the deck will look like this:

Then at the start of the next launch cycle the deck will look like this:

I wonder if the whole deck will just de-spawn and the next batch of aircraft will spawn at their launch positions, or whether there will be re-spotting of aircraft in the deck.

Perhaps a trigger or script in the mission editor would allow a comm selection to begin either the recovery cycle or launch cycle at a pre designated point. Perhaps it could also turn the carrier into or out of the wind depending on the selection. I hope also to be able to place static objects on the carriers aswell.

I bet for some kind of ATC to manage traffic around the ship . Probably would be enough connecting via TS, but then a sector screen would be needed with someone watching and giving instructions . Something similar to Ivap .

I do remember that there was official statement that ED is or will be working on Naval operations along with carriers and ship modules. We even had images of the carrier in works.

My personal opinion is that with the release of F-18C, we will probably see the new carrier model but not the operations themselves. ED will most probably release the naval operations as a separate pack for Strait of Hormuz map. Something similar as we have now with Normandy and asset pack.

Edit: Heatblur Simulations are also working on a carrier model if I'm not mistaken.

Do, or do not, there is no try.

Yes, Heatblur is working on a Forrestal class
