Hey wingmen,

I've always opted out of including Civilian AC in any of my missions, more so being afraid of knocking one out of the sky by mistake I guess ( a horrible thought ) I'm curious and I think I will do it just to see what changes there are and also if the whole dynamics of the radio chatter change if I include the max amount allowed via my settings. Somethings would have to change...wouldn't they? :)

Civilian and military aircraft in DCS have no distinction WRT how they are treated within the mission. Red aircraft will still attempt to destroy blue civilian aircraft and vice versa, you will hear additional radio traffic from your civilian airframes if allied flight reports are turned on, but it will just be the standard "passing waypoint X"stuff.

Yep, would like to see a third faction which are civilian with a range of AI traffic that handle their "role". It's sometimes useful and desirable to have traffic around for less full blown engagements. As it stands I put them as the Opfor so they do not get shot down, but in an AI vs AI scenario, one side will always go around shooting them down which isn't desirable so it limits what you can do with the one AI plane you have and the ground units.

Interesting points, thanks fellas. And I just checked the manual and there's low, med and high density of Road an Rail traffic. I got it all wrong, I was under the impression that it was all Air Civ traffic and it says when is set to Off there's no road or rail traffic, does this mean there's no Civ Air AC that I will see? And now I'm curious, I'm going to set it to high on my next mission and see what happens.

There is no civilian air traffic. Never has been. And there is a very small amount of modules that can be used in a civilian form also. Yak40, Mi8, An2, Huey being the ones off the top of my head

So am I correct to say that you can't create a mission that includes a non-combatant A/C in the environment?

Okay how about a Robinson R44 Cadet, a bit of a cross-over between military and civilian, a civi AC used as a trainer in several air forces. ;)

Happy to, put up my money now, if that would help. ;)

Control is an illusion which usually shatters at the least expected moment.

Gazelle Mini-gun version is endorphins with rotors. See above.

Yikes! One thing I did notice tho was when I set the Civ traffic option to its highest level my frame rate suffered.
