cthulhu68 Posted June 13, 2017 Posted June 13, 2017 (edited) My stick seems to be degrading in performance. Basically the middle 50% of travel moves like it's in sand Had an issue with CH throttle a while back and culprit was 3 loose wires. Does Stick have same issue or some other fix? +Anything I need to know before cracking one open? Edited June 13, 2017 by cthulhu68
Johnny Dioxin Posted June 13, 2017 Posted June 13, 2017 Strip & clean? Whilst at it check the springs? I took mine to bits and checked it - not difficult and I sent mine back, so not warranty-breaking, either (despite what a certain YouTuber claims). 1 Rig: Asus TUF GAMING B650-PLUS; Ryzen 7800X3D ; 64GB DDR5 5600; RTX 4080; VPC T50 CM2 HOTAS; Pimax Crystal Light I'm learning to fly - but I ain't got wings With my head in VR - it's the next best thing!
cthulhu68 Posted June 13, 2017 Author Posted June 13, 2017 Strip & clean? Whilst at it check the springs? ). That was other thing I noticed. L, R, and back have same amount of tension but forward has noticeably less tension. Thx for response
Sokol1_br Posted June 13, 2017 Posted June 13, 2017 The X, Y axis potentiometer wires in stick is like in throttle, not soldered but plugged, can be with bad contact. Anyway potentiometer has finite useful life span... maybe is time to replace. BTW - The Y (and X) axis use only one spring, so the tension is the same moving back or forward (the gimbal is "pincer"). 1
Oscar Juliet Posted June 14, 2017 Posted June 14, 2017 CH sent me free replacements of potentiometers for my stick and pedal. I'm not even in warranty. 1 My Youtube Channel
VampireNZ Posted June 14, 2017 Posted June 14, 2017 That was other thing I noticed. L, R, and back have same amount of tension but forward has noticeably less tension. Thx for response I chucked a few rubber bands around the spring mount arms on mine to increase the tension a bit, works well. 1 Vampire
cthulhu68 Posted June 14, 2017 Author Posted June 14, 2017 Looked OK inside but I might open up again and take closer look at contacts. Thx again for advice.
Sokol1_br Posted June 14, 2017 Posted June 14, 2017 (edited) Can try clear the connectors for pot' wires with contact cleaner and after press then with pliers - to remove eventual bad contact (that cause spikes in pot response). And spray contact cleaner inside pot's case too (by wires hole). Edited June 14, 2017 by Sokol1_br
