Hi!

Just out of curiosity, has the AJS-37 ever been deployed out of Sweden in the past? Like Red Flags in Nevada or coordinated exercises in Europe.

And a secondary question, is there any good books (in English) about the Viggen out there? I haven't been able to find any.

Yes, there was a Viggen flying in Austria last year:

;)

I don't think they have ever been deployed out of Sweden in active service though, not even for excersises as Sweden was a neutral country and not a member of NATO or the WEU.

I'm also looking for a good Viggen book in english.

DCS Panavia Tornado (IDS) really needs to be a thing!

Only I know of is SWAFRAP flying AJSF 37 in Poland during the exercise "Strong Resolve" (the AJS upgrade of SF 37 Reconnaissance version also the best looking Viggen of all times :) ).

Thanks! I just learnt that one Viggen landed in Cuatro Vientos (Madrid, Spain) in 1999

Not a deployment, but understanding now the complex (and limited for long trips) navigation system of the Viggen, I'm sure it was not an easy task to do.

At the very end of the Viggen's career there were a handful of international exercises in which it participated. Don't think the AJS 37 ever got to do it though, I think it was mostly the JA 37 and the SK 37E.

They participated in exercises in Norway several times, and it was not that uncommon to see them participating in smaller exercises with out Vipers here in the south-east either.
