mission editor nodes and templates

I can't seem to dig up detailed info on how to use the mission editor's nodes and templates features.

 

1. Under the menu "nodes", you select the node on the map you want the template at. This actually is selected from the drop-down. Clicking on the map clears the dialog box.

2. Pick US or Russian template from the list (Blue large offensive, Red small defensive, etc)

3. then blue or red boxes appear on the map at your selected template. You can move these around to your liking

 

After I click the "Generate" button on the node dialog, nothing happens. Are the units in the template automatically placed at this point? Assuming I created a player aircraft before this step, one could just hit the "play mission" button and see all the units the template was supposed to generate? However I'm flying on an empty map.

 

Could someone please point me to a decent detailed tutorial? the one from Ka-50 is too old, and doesn't have enough detail on how to use this.

yeah. this is re-re-confirmed on my machine. It's not the machine -- it's fairly beefy -- and up to date.

 

On the nodes page, I select the correct map node, then select the template(s) I want -- Red Large Defensive 1, Blue Small Offensive 1 -- etc.

 

the blue and red boxes appear on the map. I can move these around at will. Will hates it when tanks are spawned in the ocean.

 

I then click the "Generate" button on the RIGHT side of the screen, below the unit selection section.

nothing happens. No drive activity, no CPU activity. I click on the "fly mission" button, but still have an empty map.

 

Does this have something to do with the Mission Generator that I'm missing?

 

Please -- I'm submitting a bug unless someone can point me in the right direction.

OK. So this is what I'm doing. Are you doing the same?

 

 

 

It seems to be working fine on my end. I can move the nodes around as well and it still works the same.

those steps are exactly what I'm doing, with the final exception of zooming out on the map before hitting the generate button.

 

I hit the button, and nothing happens, no units generated, no hard drive or CPU spinning.

Be interesting to see, if zooming out makes the difference. I tried various things several times before making the video but I don't think I tried it while still zoomed in.

Just checked. Makes no difference on my end either zoomed in or zoomed out.
