Bonz Posted July 23, 2017 Posted July 23, 2017 When flying the Nevada site and getting ready to takeoff I use the ATC function to request takeoff. I'm never given clearance until after I'm on the runway lined up and ready to go... how do I fix this so that I receive clearance before taking the runway?
feefifofum Posted July 23, 2017 Posted July 23, 2017 Come to a complete stop at the hold short line before requesting permission to take off. Alternately, could be a bug. I mostly ignore those jagoffs.. THE GEORGIAN WAR - OFFICIAL F-15C DLC

FlightControl Posted July 26, 2017 Posted July 26, 2017 APC is full of bugs. If you have a wingman, sometimes it won't fly with you. Frederf Posted August 4, 2017 Posted August 4, 2017 One problem with airports like Nellis is that it has 2 runways but it only wants to use one. Sadly the active is often on the far side of an inactive runway although it treats rolling on the inactive as being on a runway and thus a forced request. I've tried a few airports and I think the box you have to be in in order to get a response to request takeoff is either missing or in the wrong place. As you know if you ask for T/O just anywhere ATC has null response. You have to be in the "hold short" box which you'd expect would be near the hold short line for the assigned runway. In one case I found the magic box on the entirely wrong end of the airfield from the assigned runway.
