Added a few fixes to the mission -

  • prespawned - p-51,tf-51, fw-190, bf-109, spitfire.
    This will reduced the momentary freeze someones was noticed.
  • reduced some graphic settings that should allow better FPS for all and more stabilized server with higher numbers.

good morning ... while writing this post i am stuck on loading screen.

the steps i took ...

1.checking online tool - 0 people online

2.checking mp serverbrowser - 3 people online

3.checking online tool again - 0 people

4. connecting to the server

.... im monitoring differen shit on my second monitor

5.cpu usage at 8% 800MB ram - for like 4min

6. cpu usage went up and loaded 2.3GB of ram - stayed there for 5min ... i was getting a coffee in the meantime ;)

7.started loading more ram when i was at "2." and now i finally loaded in after all in all 8 Min - no kidding

 

... i have 32GB ram at 3Ghz ...i7 6700k and some ssds .... so i guess its not on my end ;)

(my waiting times for different parts of the loading was estimated ... but the over all loading time was actually 8min)

 

story continues ...

8. clicked in a slot and waited .... and waited ..

9. after all in all 14min im in the cockpit with STAGGERING 55-60 FPS ....

(in pit my cpu shows 20-25%usage with 6.3Gb of Ram usage)

well ... if u ask me ... the performance is defiantely worth the waiting, but im probably the only one who feels like that ;)

Please turn off the AI aircrafts.. they're pretty much useless and I also noticed some freezes.. not good :) Thanks.

good morning gentlemen .... we had great fun yesterday allthough there was severe lag and warping with even 5-10 guys on the server ... the warping does not seem to occur all the time or after a specific notable event (at least thats my observation while flying)

 

my 2cent are that it might not only be the AI Planes, it might be as well be due to the AI AAA and Flak.

 

But I do have to say - since the AI planes are in, my performance went down for about 4-8fps(roughly).

 

Another thing is, the Units driving around after one took damage.....

we attacked chipelle yesterday and it stayed at 4% ... so we were missing 2 units .... you know me xcom, im not the worst in spotting ;)

around 5 guys did all in all about 40-50 lowpasses and werent able to spot the missing units.

then "unstable client"(<-awesome name btw) delivered 2 Jtacs to chipelle and they also did not detect anything.

so you might try turning of dispersion...just for testing

 

also the "intel for the bombers - thing" did not work ... but thats just what i heard ... i didnt try it myseelf ... i guess Ciribob wanted to look into that.

 

Positiv feedback: i had my first highaltitude engagement with Philstyle yesterday, and it was awesome! the clouds are nice and very useful for tactical play(allthough you may see the labels through the clouds - but hey .... thats the same for all so there is no disadvantages ;)

 

All in all - it was a great blueflag weekend !

i like the moving targets tho seems like there somethin alive down there, sure it was stupid we didnt find em, but i think that was the first time? maybe put them in a "safe" distance to other buildings/tents and such. its still quite managable to spot them in the tree lines.

 

i think the heavy warping was introduced with adding the ai planes, maybe just too much units overall. before i had some lag but that was not very often and not that severe not even with 20 players on.

 

does anyone of you know the headless client server setup from arma 3?

I really do like the mov8ng targets as well and i really dont want to m8ss it BUT i think stability comes first.

Because of that i would try disable everything unnessesary until sstable and reliable performance with 40 players is established.

 

Im not with you(Rogonaut) concearning the beginning of the warping.

I had warping times long before the ai planes where introduced.... That is why im not convinced that excluding the ai planes will stop thewarping(it would increse the clientside fps though due to less cpu usage... Especially for the guys who dont own an I7)

What is the 'added value' of the AI aicrafts in blue flag..is it to attract the airquake players who want to hit A2A score points?

Thanks for the feedback guys.

I'm removing the AI airplanes for now until I can check why the warping, I think they introduced more warping although there was already warping in the first place.

 

Another things I'm going to do is change so the AI no longer moves.

any ground movement with large quantity of players of vehicles - creates lag as we already know.

This will help us get the stability we are looking for.

 

Notice that the stability is probably worse than in 1.5 as the Normandy map is still in Alpha.

We are looking forward as well to ED merging to 2.5 and then resolving any bugs that could affect stability.

 

One more thing, Ciribob is looking into the recon - bomber script, it was working previously and now something broke it, he or I will update here once it's fixed.

AI goal is to mainly do intercepts and protect objectives.

We also introduced some CAS here, will be removed for now.

They don't really protect anything.. and since we don't have bombers yet, the AAAs are doing a heluva job seizing our engines..
