Red Hayek Posted July 24, 2017 Posted July 24, 2017 I currently fly exclusively in VR (Vive). Everything is fine - within the limitations of the current tech - but I have one small problem. I'm using a Warthog stick/throttle combo plus VKB pedals. They work pretty well but I could really use an additional USB panel with, say, ten or whatever extra toggle switches. Then - for example - if I wanted to cold start the Dora I could program the switches to operate the electrical systems. Repeat and refine for other DCS modules. The thing wouldn't have to look pretty - because VR - and I'd really prefer not to have to make the it myself. Such systems are available but they're usually expensive mock ups of rl systems which are probably great for wealthy sim pit builders but not what I'm looking for. Does anyone have any suggestions?
dburne Posted July 25, 2017 Posted July 25, 2017 I am sure probably not exactly what you have in mind, I have been using a CH Throttle Quadrant for some time to give me extra axis and buttons for my Warthog setup. http://www.chproducts.com/Throttle-Quadrant-v13-p-180.html Fairly simplistic but pretty functional. hansangb Posted July 25, 2017 Posted July 25, 2017 http://derekspearedesigns.com/ Look at the button controllers section -FLT1 Has a good mix of buttons, switches, and rotaries. And the A10 specific one is here: http://lynx.dk/ Cockpit Utility Brick Check it out. I haven't it used it myself, but reviews are pretty good. And I do have DSD's controller card and it works great. hsb HW Spec in Spoiler --- i7-10700K Direct-To-Die/OC'ed to 5.1GHz, MSI Z490 MB, 32GB DDR4 3200MHz, EVGA 2080 Ti FTW3, NVMe+SSD, Win 10 x64 Pro, MFG, Warthog, TM MFDs, Komodo Huey set, Rverbe G1
Red Hayek Posted July 25, 2017 Author Posted July 25, 2017 Thanks for all the suggestions. Both the DSD FLT and CUB systems look pretty good, but before I commit I'd better do some reading around the subject to make sure they're going to work with the minimum of hassle.
hansangb Posted July 25, 2017 Posted July 25, 2017 There's nothing to configure. When you plug them in, you get a joystick controller that Windows recognizes. You then go into DCS controller configuration and you'll see a new column for DSD (for exampley). And from there, if you want to configure one of the switches, it's as if you're configure your warthog joystick. While I don't have the FLT boxes, I do have the DSD controllers. And it works the same way. The DSD controllers can be used for folks who want to build their own switches. And you can contact them both. Very responsive. Although I haven't seen Derek on the DCS forum for a while, I've had zero issues with my questions being answered or product shipment. They did have "sales for close out products" but not sure if that's still available. hsb HW Spec in Spoiler --- i7-10700K Direct-To-Die/OC'ed to 5.1GHz, MSI Z490 MB, 32GB DDR4 3200MHz, EVGA 2080 Ti FTW3, NVMe+SSD, Win 10 x64 Pro, MFG, Warthog, TM MFDs, Komodo Huey set, Rverbe G1
DerekSpeare Posted July 26, 2017 Posted July 26, 2017 (edited) DSD Components work in DCS without issue :) Just connect and then setup just like any other controller. I use two of our own for DCS (and everything else). There's info on the DSD Site, and you'll find thousands of links about DSD Components on a google search. I'm still here :) Been very busy and taking some time in Elite Dangerous as well. I'm looking forward to the Hornet coming out sometime *soon*.
