IIRC the Mirage has a GCI link, so that contacts from EWR get integrated into the radar display, thats afaik also mainly the reason for the 160 and 320nm scales.

Is this feature planned to be implemented ?

I also would like to know this. The TEL option in the HSI is supposed to have this and not implemented as DCS doesnt implement GCI.

Manual says:

 Ground Controlled Interception (TEL): In this mode the HSI displays interception

information: bearing, distance and interception course, towards a target. This mode

is used when the aircraft is under Ground Controlled Interception (GCI).

But... The training missions from Baltic Dragon states that the TEL option is for intercepting radar locked targets. So we have a discrepancy here that I'd like to know more about.

Anyone knows something about this?

If I remember correctly the TEL mode was used exactly as the manual states, but with own locked targets rather than GCI supplied ones. It was then removed in an updated due to realism concerns.

My personal stance is that it should have stayed in, since we're never getting GCI/TEL anyways due to engine limitations, and having the intercept data on the HSI was nice.

TL;DR - The TEL system never really got into service and it's not compatible with the American datalink (E-2, etc.?), so implementation is unlikely unless a French EWR network/ground unit is added to DCS.

It was discussed last year, entering "TEL" in the search brings up the old posts:-

GCI is usually used for intercepts beyond 100 nmiles.

Logic dictates that it works this way:

1. The radar network detects and enemy formation a long distance away.

2. The interceptors are alerted, but since it will take some time for the enemy to arrive, they have time to do all ground stuff, including INS alignment.

3. The interceptors take-off and upon contact with ground control set their radar for GCI. This is the TEL option that appears when the system is in AA mode.

4. Ground control vectors individual aircraft to individual targets.

5. The pilot enters target data into the system by using the VTB switches. It took me a long time to know what they were for.

7. The target icon appears in the VTB. This is calculated from the data sent by the GCI network. From time to time data is updated via data link.

8. When the aircraft reaches engagement range it deactivates GCI mode and track with its own radar for weapons guidance.

At this point the TEL mode in the HSI is redundant since you are already tracking it in the VTB and HUD.

Worth mentionning is the system never really got into service; let's assume very scarce documentation.

My guess is because France bought E-2 Hawkeyes from the US and the ground network was superseeded. I was told that unfortunately the TEL system is incompatible with the American datalink.

Oh didnt know it did not enter service, thanks for the info !

Would be nice to have anyways if the m2k side actually was built in and not left out because it was ditched.

Given there are multiple datalink systema in game, I do not think its an engine limitation though [for once lel].
