EscCtrl Posted January 6, 2007 Posted January 6, 2007 Hey I'm trying to make a new skin for the F15 using ICE's template - having no problems using it. My only question is can some one point me in the direction of a guide for putting the skin in the game - just to test it out and see how things look not for release (not sure if i ever will :S) thanks
Deadman Posted January 6, 2007 Posted January 6, 2007 Do you have access to a team speak server I can walk you hrough it now https://forum.dcs.world/topic/133818-deadmans-cockpit-base-plans/#comment-133824 CNCs and Laser engravers are great but they can't do squat with out a precise set of plans.
EscCtrl Posted January 6, 2007 Author Posted January 6, 2007 I don't have teamspeak sorry - I did a search and have found a thread you made http://forum.lockon.ru/showthread.php?t=19735&highlight=create+texture Seems to be the thing I'm looking for so far. Should have searched before - thanks though!
Deadman Posted January 6, 2007 Posted January 6, 2007 you can do that or replace the skins that are there or add more to the F-15 because it has a skin file https://forum.dcs.world/topic/133818-deadmans-cockpit-base-plans/#comment-133824 CNCs and Laser engravers are great but they can't do squat with out a precise set of plans.
EscCtrl Posted January 6, 2007 Author Posted January 6, 2007 Everytime I click the 'Build CDDS' option in the CDDSstudio the DOS window opens, I see several commands scroll down then the window closes - in the folder where the CDDS should be there is an empty error.txt file and a TexToDDs.txt saying - TexToDDs.exe -noise <Source Tga file> <Dest dds file> <alpha decrease by miplevel> TexToDDs.exe <InDir> <extention> <OutDir> TexToDDs.exe -complex <InDir> <extention> <CDDS FileName> TexToDDs.exe -dump <CDDS FileName> <OutDir> TexToDDs.exe -single FileName format mip outfilename TexToDDs.exe -xml <Project FileName> <CDDS FileName> Any idea what I did wrong?
VMFA117_Poko Posted January 6, 2007 Posted January 6, 2007 http://developer.nvidia.com/object/photoshop_dds_plugins.html Don't know if it works with LockOn texture. I will check it.
EscCtrl Posted January 6, 2007 Author Posted January 6, 2007 EscCtrl! Better download this ;). Plug-in for Photoshop made by nVidia. Very simple. http://download.nvidia. com/developer/NVTextureSuite/Photoshop_Plugins_7.83.0629.1500.exe Sorry! link doesn't work anymore. Wait a sec! I'll find another one and will edit. The link didn't work even when I removed the space before the .com I found out the error I had was apparently because there are spaces in the file name and source as well as the CDDS savefile directory - the problem is I can't change some of the folders such as 'My Documents' - I tried using the desktop as a directory but that failed also.
FVMAD Posted January 6, 2007 Posted January 6, 2007 Everytime I click the 'Build CDDS' option in the CDDSstudio the DOS window opens, I see several commands scroll down then the window closes - in the folder where the CDDS should be there is an empty error.txt file and a TexToDDs.txt saying - TexToDDs.exe -noise <Source Tga file> <Dest dds file> <alpha decrease by miplevel> TexToDDs.exe <InDir> <extention> <OutDir> TexToDDs.exe -complex <InDir> <extention> <CDDS FileName> TexToDDs.exe -dump <CDDS FileName> <OutDir> TexToDDs.exe -single FileName format mip outfilename TexToDDs.exe -xml <Project FileName> <CDDS FileName> Any idea what I did wrong? Had same problem few days ago. Exclude any spaces in the routes to the files. And make sure you press SAVE before BUILD CDDS.
Deadman Posted January 6, 2007 Posted January 6, 2007 Do you have the CDDS studion and a work folder in the c drive folder? What type of file are you using it should be a bitmap 24 Check your naming watch for double .bmp listed in the cdds studio it should only have one https://forum.dcs.world/topic/133818-deadmans-cockpit-base-plans/#comment-133824 CNCs and Laser engravers are great but they can't do squat with out a precise set of plans.
VMFA117_Poko Posted January 6, 2007 Posted January 6, 2007 http://developer.nvidia.com/object/photoshop_dds_plugins.html Don't know if it works with LockOn texture. I will check it. No. False start :tomato:. It creates .dds not .cdds. But it might be useful for skinning in other games like GTR2 for example.
EscCtrl Posted January 6, 2007 Author Posted January 6, 2007 I'll give it a go again then baring that in mind - when you say a work folder in the C Drive you mean to say its listed under C:/workfolder without going into anything else yes?
Deadman Posted January 6, 2007 Posted January 6, 2007 Yes put CDDS studio in C:\cdds-studio and a folder for you work named with out spaces C:\A-10_UpGrade for example but this is the hard way why don't you just use Walmis's cdds file and put you new skin in it with modman you can check you new skin just by namine it the same as the same as frist skin and tail and put it in to the temp texturefolder you don't need to make a new cdds folder just use walmis's 1 https://forum.dcs.world/topic/133818-deadmans-cockpit-base-plans/#comment-133824 CNCs and Laser engravers are great but they can't do squat with out a precise set of plans.
EscCtrl Posted January 6, 2007 Author Posted January 6, 2007 Yeah I got it to work now - I ignored the step about creating a work folder directly in the C Drive (I just assumed there was no real reason for doing that :P) Thanks though

walmis Posted January 6, 2007 Posted January 6, 2007 you dont need to create cdds for development, you can use tempTextures directory, and when you done, then create cdds.
Deadman Posted January 6, 2007 Posted January 6, 2007 He does not even need to creat a new cdds he can replace skins the don't fit correcty or add to yours https://forum.dcs.world/topic/133818-deadmans-cockpit-base-plans/#comment-133824 CNCs and Laser engravers are great but they can't do squat with out a precise set of plans.
