Was woundering since i am new to this, in Black Shark what Helicopters other then the Black shark will be flyable, and if there are no other Flyable ships in first release will you be adding any such as the AH-64 for the american forces. Just Curiouse?

Thx

sorry the only flyable helo will be the ka-50, there are no plans to add any other flyable helos/aircraft in Black Shark. Since Black Shark is an addon to Lock On, you still get the old flyables if that's what you are wondering. P.S. welcome to the forum, i hope you enjoy your stay.

Hey thank you for the Resp. It is a shame cause i have been looking for a Heloi sim for the Apache that would be released. Thought they might be here in this Sim. Last Question, will there be a 2 seat model of the Chopper and if so will 2 Players Be able to ride in it at same time?

Thx again

There is no 2-seat version, no. However I can guarantee you that despite there being no AH-64, you will -enjoy- this chopper if you're looking for a chopper sim.

Sorry if I'm hijacking the thread, but I also have a question about BS, and thought it'd be better to post here rather than a whole new thread.

How much more pc demanding will BS be over FC? I'm worried about the "FSX effect", as in FSX was built with more eyecandy, but to get decent FPS the settings must be turned down so low, that FS9 with full settings looks better, and get 3X the FPS.

My machine is an AMD 3400+ 2GB RAM, ATI X1800XT 512mb and it does a good job of running FC with medium-high settings and good FPS. Hopefully it will accept BS without having to turn down settings.... any predictions?

If you can run FC you'll be able to run BS...similar concept from jump from v1.02 to FC1.1.

Yea the ka-50 is a single seater. There are a couple reasons why the famous apache won't be in an addon for this sim, you can use the search function to read about it. I'll just give a short summary.

1.) ED (the devs) are a russian company, so its expected for them to lean towards russian aircraft (which is awesome since we don't really see a lot of those on our market). Also since they are a russian company, its easier for them to get the data for russian helos/aircraft rather than a western helo like the apache.

2.) the apache is a 2 seater so that kinda brings some problems. ED wants to aim for realism as much as possible so if you were in a single player mode, who would operate the back seat or visa vera. It can be done through AI but 1 player is still not that realistic for a 2 player helo since 2 pilots = 4 eyes, more situation awareness. So unless the AI could actually give us feedback or we constantly play online for the backseat, i think this brought some complications. But mainly its due to the first reason.

Anyway i think you would really enjoy Black Shark when it comes out. As for now, i hope you are practicing with the original Lock on or Flaming Cliffs.

i believe it was mentioned before that the fps would be about the same as you are getting with FC. Which is rather amazing with all the eye candy we saw through the black shark screenshots. But i think they made use of the LODS. About FSX, yea it was a bit of a let down for me. I can get a lot more eyecandy out of FS9 with double the fps. But if you still play fsx, i recommend tweaking it a little through guides such as this one. http://ops.precisionmanuals.com/wiki/FSX_FPS_Guide

As you probably noticed, the Su-25 pit causes a bit of an FPS drop - the Ka-50 pit is similar, but maybe it take a heavier hit - I don't know, this isn't scientific, and I run it on a computer where I normally get 15-18FPS playing on the 'big servers' with clouds etc, and I find it playable so long as I'm not sitting in a dust cloud.

If you're getting good FPS right now, I really doubt that BS will cause you any problems whatsoever.

Thanks for the FPS update (or recap, or whatever)

I bought Lock On Gold last month, after I saw the previews for Black Shark (as I love helo sims). Then I started to worry that my computer wouldn't handle the sim.

I've got FC running and looking great now, but only after I've added a bunch of mods, many of which have been to improve my FPS.

So I'm wondering if BS is being better optimized than the default FC was, because this sort of sounds like it . . . from your (beta testers) posts.

Personally I think that it's too soon to talk about this.

But take in mind that lots of things are being improved, but also new features are being implemented.

So talk about the performance of the final product (the one you'll probably buy in a future) it's not being objective.

Subjective opinion: Now I think it's the most hardly worked addon I've never seen in an, (ehem...sorry...) videogame (including simulators). When you get the final product, you'll appreciate it if you love simulators.
