Harry.R Posted October 7, 2017 Posted October 7, 2017 Scarves used to be a big thing in the 1970/80s, now there's high neck suits and underwear that makes them obsolete. They were good for stopping flames going on the neck during flash fires.
renhanxue Posted October 9, 2017 Posted October 9, 2017 The scarf was (is?) a Thing in the Swedish Air Force, you got a silk scarf matching your squadron's color when you joined. Red = 1st squadron of the wing, blue = 2nd, yellow = 3rd. These colors are the same as the ones used in callsigns, so Martin blå = 132nd fighter squadron (13th air wing, Norrköping).
BravoYankee4 Posted October 11, 2017 Posted October 11, 2017 Did I just see 'Kolmården' and 'Läckö Slott'? ;-) I had this picture for many years, and it would be really fun to do it in DCS :)
MBot Posted October 12, 2017 Posted October 12, 2017 What kind of gunpods are these? They look significant smaller than the ones we have in DCS.

Farks Posted October 13, 2017 Posted October 13, 2017 For the geographically impaired, these are (roughly) the areas that you can see on the pilot maps. The area on the left includes Såtenäs which is the 7th Air Wing's (F 7) main base. And the majority of the attack squadrons wartime air bases were concentrated in that region during the cold war as well. The area on the right includes Bråviken Bay, which was believed to be a potential landing site for a Warsaw Pact amphibious invasion during the cold war. The cities of Norrköping and Oxelösund have good ports for shipping in reinforcements, and many roads leading in and out of the area which makes it ideal for an invasion.
