I know there are topics out there about accuracy of CCRP bombing, but haven't found any solution on it lately.

My problem is that then I am bombing in CCRP mode, I don't hit the targets nor even close to. It's both in missions and in training mission. In the training mission with CCRP bombing, I think I have tried almost any tactic. The higher I fly, the worse it will be. That's maybe logic, but I think if I fly level at 5000 ft. I overshoot the target with about 1-2 km. The higher speed, the worse it will be. I have tried diving to the target, level fly, and upwards. It is all the same.

Is it still a bug, or is it me? I write, because no one have mentioned it in the short past.

The CCRP accuracy is in the to do list by Razbam.

The accuracy in CCRP is to be improved, but if your bombs 1 or 2 kilometers long you may have a different problem. With the current accuracy you can expect to hit a few hundred meters off. Some have suggested designating the target with the upper tip of the diamond, I have yet to try this.

If you could provide a track, this might help see if what you are experiencing is the "normal" inaccuracy, or something else.

TL; DR: AFAIK treating CCRP as a manual bombing mode with auto release, should work well in DCS (Steam) 1.5.7.10872.

In Detail

The DCS M-2000C CCRP doesn't appear to work as well as RL M-2000D videos suggest it should.

Relaxing stick pressure in a 1 g shallow dive as the horizontal CCRP line moves up, through the piper and the bomb(s) release usually hits my target (Mk82's in pairs 30m spacing, soft targets).

As others have said, bombs tend to go 'long', so designating the target when it lies between the piper dot and the top of the diamond is usually best but only practice will improve your accuracy if you want to hit reliably with singles.

A typical Mk82 (450-550 knots) bombing practice run would be:-

  • 15° offset to target @ 10,000ft, 450 knots
  • eyes on target area
  • roll so target is on lift line
  • pull to bring target into HUD
  • roll wings level (20-30° dive)
  • place piper/diamond on target and designate (use DCS zoom for accuracy)
  • gentle stick pull to reduce dive angle (1.5 g?)
  • the target will pass below the nose and out of sight
  • follow the piper diamond flight path guides and/or a 'aim off point' landmark (as you would in manual bombing) http://www.simhq.com/_air9/images/air_273a_002.jpg
  • CCRP will use speed and altitude to calculate and automate release, everything else is on the pilot
  • reduce stick pressure when nearing estimated release
  • as soon as horizontal piper line moves - press and hold trigger consent
  • once bomb(s) release - accelerate climb/break away as desired (+4 g?)

Is it still a bug, or is it me? I write, because no one have mentioned it in the short past.

I'd guess most of us have worked around the current limitation or are A2A focused?

If I dive steeply, designate and pull up (as seen in a M-2000D video) - bomb(s) will release late/long and be wildly inaccurate. I have had similar issues when in a gentle climb but would need to test further to be 100% certain it's not an error on my part.
