OsageCowboy Posted January 16, 2007 Posted January 16, 2007 The Pro is functioning fine as far as game functionality goes, but it seems to me that my Profile Editor does not work. I can load up profiles and they will sometimes load and show up in the MFD accordingly, but even where they show up on the MFD, it is unclear to me that the profile is actually working. For example, where I load up a profile, I see NOTHING in the editor itself. All the buttons are there without any labels and as far as I can tell, there is nothing actually in the profile that I have allegedly loaded. Other times, I get the straightforward "profile has not been created message" for other x52 profiles, and those profiles do not load. I uninstalled all the software, deleted the .inf files in the INF directory (there were none on my machine), and reinstalled the latest drivers and profile editor off the website. Still, however, it seems as though the Editor is not working correctly. I am particularly puzzled by the profile name showing up on the MFD, but without any actual labeling or coding in the editor. I'd appreciate any assistance.
Colt40Five Posted January 16, 2007 Posted January 16, 2007 How are you "loading the profile"? Loading a profile (by right-clicking on the icon in the task bar) doesn't load the profile into the editor. You have to open the editor and then use it to open the profile for editing. If that's not what's wrong I don't know what is. Been using my X-52 for 2 years now and never seen what you describe. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
bogusheadbox Posted January 16, 2007 Posted January 16, 2007 Okay. First problem is loading the latest drivers. There is no need to load the latest drivers unless you are trying to pair the x-52 with another piece of hardware (such as siatek rudder pedals). If you do load the latest drivers you will then have to set it up with the correct version of the SST programming software. Uninstalling the drivers from the computer is easy but long winded and you have to dig deep into the computer to remove ALL traces of previous versions. A simple email or call to saitek helpdesk will get you sorted out in no time at all. (Saitek have the best customer support i have ever experienced). I got the drivers all messed up when i bought the pedals. And i downloaded the latest drivers. That is what caused the problem for me. Saitek kindly sent me instruction on how to remove the drivers PROPERLY and what i need to install to get it all working. Now, before you do go ahead with that, first you need to determine how you are loading a profile and how you went about creating a profile. 1. First you must create a profile. Open up editor from your start menu. Create profile - then save. Then assign keys to x-52 Then save. 2. Once you have a profile created. To load a profile all you have to do is right click on the icon in the taskbar and select the profile you want. Then it should work. If you can give us a more detailed explanation as to what you have done. Then i will be able to help further.
3Sqn_Fudd Posted January 16, 2007 Posted January 16, 2007 Been using my X-52 for 2 years now and never seen what you describe. Recall... he's got the new X-52 Pro Hey Osage... Where did you get it? How much was it? Have you used a regular X-52 and how does the spring feel compared to the older X-52? Stiffer I hope.... Honestly... a stiffer spring and I'm not sure how a cougar or CH would be any better... I may be forgetting some of the features of those products however http://3sqn.com/forum/ Here's to 1.13 -- > http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h0488djMDBU
bogusheadbox Posted January 16, 2007 Posted January 16, 2007 Regardless of X52 or X-52 pro (not a lot of real difference between them) The SST programming software will work exactly the same. Only the drivers will change. Which matters a lot. OT - there are a few good threads around about how to mod the spring on the X-52 Here is a topic on another thread on how to use the SST programming software http://www.airwarfare.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=829
OsageCowboy Posted January 16, 2007 Author Posted January 16, 2007 the X-52 Pro has a great feel to it. I'd say it's about 10-15% stiffer than the X52, but as Bogus noted, you can do a washer mod and make it extremely stiff. My main problem with the software is that I can allegedly load profiles into the editor, but even doing that shows nothing. Even when I load a profile, it appears that no commands are loaded and consequently it seems to me that loaded profiles are doing nothing for me.
bogusheadbox Posted January 16, 2007 Posted January 16, 2007 Okay, When you say allegedly load a profile. How do you do that (as in what mouse or keystrokes do you puch). Q. Is it a profile you have created or downloaded from someone else? Q. When you load a created profile for use in a game (you get a green icon in the taskbar and profile name in the throttle MFD) are you saying that no buttons worked? -------------------------- From what i understand. You can load a profile into the editor and no key assignments will show. If this is what is happening. I want you to try the following. Create a new profile. Assign one keystroke and exit. Now load up that profile. You should see that keystroke. Q. When you load the not working profile for editing in the SST software profile editor. Can you see assigned keystrokes or are they all empty blank slots?
Meyvn Posted January 16, 2007 Posted January 16, 2007 well, i had a regular x52 for about a year. To use the profile in the game, you right click the icon on the task bar and select the profile. To edit the profile, you open the editor and choose to open a profile, but it won't be loaded on the joystick. That's just for editing the profile only. If the profile is loaded, it should be display on the MFD, when pressing a button, the function of the button will also be showing on the MFD. I also tried the stiffer mod on the x52, but it worse the problem of letting the base plate of the spring bite into the joystick base. When doing a minor adjusting on the stick, you alwyas need some extra strength to move the stick which is annoying to me.
169th_Akula Posted August 22, 2007 Posted August 22, 2007 What about the button on the throttle that has an "i" printed on it??? It doesn't seem to be very mappable to me.... If it is, how would I do it?
Wild.Bill.Kelso Posted August 22, 2007 Posted August 22, 2007 Loading a profile (by right-clicking on the icon in the task bar) doesn't load the profile into the editor. It does for me. I have an X52 Pro and just did it and downloaded the profile with no problems.
Wild.Bill.Kelso Posted August 22, 2007 Posted August 22, 2007 What about the button on the throttle that has an "i" printed on it??? It doesn't seem to be very mappable to me.... If it is, how would I do it?It's not mappable. People have complained about this. There is some hack aroudn somewhere that will let you assign a key to it, but I have not done it. If you hold that button down, the hat on the joystick will flash. You can move the hat up/down to select a different profile to load. You will see the name change in the throttle display window. To load the selected profile press the hat to the right and the throttle display should show that profile is now loaded.
4c Hajduk Veljko Posted August 23, 2007 Posted August 23, 2007 I got my X-52 Pro few weeks ago and did not notice any problem creating and uploading configurations to the joystick. BTW, i got the pedals too. I programed the right toe brake to work as brakes.
