jjohnson241 Posted November 29, 2017 Posted November 29, 2017 Hi, Updated the Beta copy and installed Harrier via Module Manager. When I attempt to assign Controls Axes and then hit OK, the screen blackens and I have to use the Task Manager to exit DCs. Delete the Saved Games/Config folder and tried again, same result. Anyone help? Thanks [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] 3rd Mar Div RVN '66-'67

jjohnson241 Posted November 29, 2017 Author Posted November 29, 2017 euhm...did you start dcs in admin??? Tried that and IT WORKED. Now, I'm the system administrator and was logged in as such. Don't understand why running DCS Beta as an "Administrator" would clear this problem but thanks for your suggestion. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] 3rd Mar Div RVN '66-'67
lemoen Posted November 29, 2017 Posted November 29, 2017 You shouldn't run it as admin, you can go into your Saved Games folder and make your DCS folder (and all subfolder) writeable by you. That fixes this problem.

javelina1 Posted November 29, 2017 Posted November 29, 2017 Did you you the repair in -CMD??? Or adminrights??? This is a must! interesting... I've NEVER run any version of DCS as admin. If it's a requirement, then shame on me. I've used repair in the past, as a user, and it took care of things. I've kept my DCS installs on a volume owned by my user account. so interesting... javelina1 Posted November 29, 2017 Posted November 29, 2017 (edited) Did you you the repair in -CMD??? Or adminrights??? This is a must! this a Win10, powershell thingy? I run Win8.1 :) ended up having renaming my beta install in the saved games, and then let DCS rebuild it when I launched. I then "cherry picked" out of the old to put into the new. seems to working... :-) Edited November 29, 2017 by javelina1 MSI MAG Z790 Carbon, i9-13900k, NH-D15 cooler, 64 GB CL40 6000mhz RAM, MSI RTX4090, Yamaha 5.1 A/V Receiver, 4x 2TB Samsung 980 Pro NVMe, 1x 2TB Samsung 870 EVO SSD, Win 11 Pro, TM Warthog, Virpil WarBRD, MFG Crosswinds, 43" Samsung 4K TV, 21.5 Acer VT touchscreen, TrackIR, Varjo Aero, Wheel Stand Pro Super Warthog, Phanteks Enthoo Pro2 Full Tower Case, Seasonic GX-1200 ATX3 PSU, PointCTRL, Buttkicker 2, K-51 Helicopter Collective Control
Phantom453 Posted November 30, 2017 Posted November 30, 2017 Hi, Updated the Beta copy and installed Harrier via Module Manager. When I attempt to assign Controls Axes and then hit OK, the screen blackens and I have to use the Task Manager to exit DCs. Delete the Saved Games/Config folder and tried again, same result. Anyone help? Thanks I also had this problem. Trying to assign axis or buttons from the main configuration panel (options/ Controls) would result in a black screen as soon as I pressed the "OK" button after completing the assignments. I too had to exit DCS via the Task Manager. However, I could assign axis and buttons from within the aircraft when flying by pressing ESC and then adjusting the control settings from there. I deleted the "C:\Users\my name\Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\Config\Input\AV8BNA" folder and this solved the problem for me.
