Hi,

Always thought the bugtracker used for the MiG-21 by LN was a great idea. Easy to use and see if your bug perhaps was already submitted. Is HB going to have a bugtracker for the Viggen soon and also the upcoming modules?

I don't think we will. It seemed like a good idea, but it also abstracts away some of the communication directly with folks reporting bugs (thus, even if it was more "open", it also felt more opaque in a way).

We continue to use internal bugtracking software of course.

If I remember correctly, there also used to be a bugtracker for Viggen in pre-HB days.

Not AFAIK, but some folks did report Viggen bugs on the LN tracker for a little bit.

I prefer using a “general problems”-forum as this instead of a bug tracker. You can still search this forum and a bug tracker doesn’t guarantee the same issue is reported twice. Duplicate reports is not as big an issue as no reports at all. I think the bar is a lot lower to report an issue in a forum where everyone already have an account and I also believe people don’t feel they have to be 110% sure it’s a bug and not user error when writing here as opposed to a “bug”-tracker. I’d rather have many false positive reports than people having real issues but we are unable to fix them because we don’t know about them.

maybe a suggestion to add [confirmed], etc. to the title, so we know what's been accepted & worked on ... or some sticky topic with a list of links to posts

That's a great suggestion. I would really appreciate this as it would bring much more clarity to the bug reporting procedure!

Nicholas,

I posted a bug report in the Viggen Bugs and Problems Forum on December 4th. No one has responded to my post. I have not idea if the problem is something that I am doing wrong, or if it is in fact a bug.

What is the process for getting help? Your Bug reporting system does not seem to be working very well.

This. While I agree that the threshold for posting in a forum everyone already have access to is way lower than on a bug tracker site, it would still be great with a public (read-only mind you) bug tracker, even if you couldn't post on it, just to be able to review it and see if "your" bug is "confirmed".

Viggen bugtracker site

The issue is I don’t have time to answer all reports here. I have read every single report here but want to answer with something more meaningful than that I only read it. Please rest assure that we read everything you write about the Viggen both here and on Hoggit.

Edit: Guys, as someone who also uses software and that sometimes find bugs that I might report to the developer I 100% understand that you at least want someone to acknowledge that the report was not sent into a black void. I am sorry that I haven’t kept up to all your very good reports. Still, please keep them coming!

Fair enough Ragnar. I guess you have a you reasons as for why not use a public bugtracker. Always nice to hear that you're keeping an eye on things in all the noise on this forum. Spot on with "the void" feeling lol Keep up the good work!
