Knubinator Posted December 10, 2017 Posted December 10, 2017 So we were trying to land at Sochi using AWLS, and could not get any signal at all. So I went back later and tried it at Senaki, and it worked no problem. I actually quite like the Harrier for ILS approach. At first I thought it was because Sochi didn't have TACAN, and Senaki does. But we also tried at Nellis, and received no signal at all. Dunno if it isn't implemented on 2.2 or not. i7 4790k @ 4.4, 32GB RAM, RX480 GTR I fly it all.
Saltat_cum_mortem Posted December 10, 2017 Posted December 10, 2017 Sochi doesn't have a TACAN. I believe you need both TACAN and ILS for it to work properly. Sent from my XT1585 using Tapatalk [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Zarma Posted December 10, 2017 Posted December 10, 2017 You need to know the channel for the AWL. Havent seen a channel list for 2.2 yet. i9 9900k, 64 Go RAM, RTX 4090, Warthog HOTAS Throttle & Stick, Virpil AH64 collective, TPR rudder, MFD Cougar, Trackir 5 Pro, Multipurpose UFC, Alain Dufour's TEDAC and Oculus Rift S (when I want some VR), http://www.twitch.tv/zarma4074 / https://www.youtube.com/user/Zarma4074
GinGin Posted December 10, 2017 Posted December 10, 2017 I didn't download yet the 2.2, but did you try into C:/ Programm/EagleDynamics/DCSWorldAlpha/Mods/aricraft/AV8BNA/Cockpit/Scrip/RadioNav and the file AN_ARN128_config ?
Knubinator Posted December 10, 2017 Author Posted December 10, 2017 You need to know the channel for the AWL. Havent seen a channel list for 2.2 yet. The pocket guide has channels for 1.5 and 2.2. i7 4790k @ 4.4, 32GB RAM, RX480 GTR I fly it all.
Tic-Tac Posted February 25, 2018 Posted February 25, 2018 what's peoples experience in 2.5? I had it working fine before the upgrade, but now trying to use it to land at Batumi I don't get the additional HUD symbology when I switch from TACAN to AWLS
TonyG Posted February 25, 2018 Posted February 25, 2018 I flew an approach into Batumi last night and it worked fine. Did you double check your switches? 9800X3D, MSI 5080 , G.SKILL 64GB DDR5-6000, Win 11, MSI X870, 2/4TB nVME, Quest 3, OpenHornet Pit
Tic-Tac Posted February 25, 2018 Posted February 25, 2018 thanks Tony, must something I'm missing then, back to the manual!
drPhibes Posted February 25, 2018 Posted February 25, 2018 Wind direction might be an issue. If, for instance, only RWY 09 on airport X has AWLS, and the wind is blowing from the west ( = RWY 27 is the active runway) the navaids for RWY 09 may be switched off, at least if AWLS works like ILS does (in real life and DCS). I haven't tested this myself, but it's worth checking. 1
Tic-Tac Posted February 25, 2018 Posted February 25, 2018 thanks for the feedback, problem solved...no idea what I'm doing differently from the dozen or so times previously but working fine now! Maybe just knowing it should work was enough ;)
Tic-Tac Posted February 26, 2018 Posted February 26, 2018 drPhibes you were correct, set wind from south(ish) at Kobeleti and ATC gives you runway 25 rather than 07, and no ILS signal at either end...drop the wind and ILS is on for 07 as expected
Shrike88 Posted February 28, 2018 Posted February 28, 2018 Another question on the AWLS. Seems the lateral deviation indicator is inverse to that of most aircraft / Localizer indication in that "you are the needle" on deviation instead of flying to the needle or the course indication. Does anyone have anymore information about this ? Guess i could breakout the NATOPS however Wondering if this has been discussed and that is how it is in the actual aircraft, or its incorrect as I feel it is ? Any ideas ?
drPhibes Posted March 1, 2018 Posted March 1, 2018 I see no logical reason why the two flight director/steering bars should work opposite of each other, so I assume it's a bug.
kafete Posted March 16, 2018 Posted March 16, 2018 (edited) Is the AWLS working properly? If you know all the ILS systems when you try to follow the localizer line, you have to move the aircraft towards this vertical line, and in my system you have tu turn to the opposite direction (and in other aircrafts are totally different) Edited March 16, 2018 by kafete
rrohde Posted March 16, 2018 Posted March 16, 2018 I see no logical reason why the two flight director/steering bars should work opposite of each other, so I assume it's a bug. I believe that has been confirmed by Zeus at one point, so let's up it gets an update soon.
