Not a problem. Someone will have helped me when I had a problem(s) and I am sure that you will help others when you can.

I have a Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS, and there is a 4-way/push-button MIC switch on the throttle, that is used predominantly for the comms buttons. I have that set up with VHF on the forward button and UHF on the down button. The other 2 directions are also set up but aren't used by the viper

That makes good sense I may do that myself. I'm not sure when you have to use VHF AM Radio.

James was that screenshot taken while in the game with the F-16 selected on a mission? You should have the same display as Greyman with the module being recognized.

When the module is recognized it greys out the radio keys that are not applicable to that particular module

I doubt this but are you running Win 7? I could never get Vaicom to work 100% with Win 7 and it turns out the problem appears to be connnected to related to UDP packet size in Win 7. If you are using 7 then I posted about the fix in this thread but it's a while back

Just in case here is a link to it

Cannot remember the frequencies but if you are using the lower radio ranges for Airfields you'll use VHF for the higher ranges UHF

Example Anapa can be contacted on 121.0 and 250.0 the former would be VHF (Very High Frequency) the latter UHF (Ultra High Frequency)

Ranges might be in the F-16 manual, cannot remember

I've got Gospadin's Kneeboard notes on my kneeboard and it's a great guide, an alternate would be to use Lino's Caucasus map or beacon tables

Good point.

As ED has just released an update, don't forget to delete your export.lua file and restart VA and DCS or your PTT dialogue will look like that screendump, even with an aircraft active

No I had shut down DCS when I took the screen shot, I've never heard of Gospadin's Kneeboard is that something I could load?

Hi James

It's just a table you can load into your kneeboard to see available frequencies for all the towers in the Causasus map alongwith ILS, PRMG,TACAN, RSBN and beacons for the fields.

It's here if you want to download it

https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/1523987/

When you contact the airfield/tower you should see on the Vaicon pop up screen if it has selected the airfield anyway

If you enter in the correct frequency (or use "Select") and then use the correct PTT to activate that radio then the pop up will tell you, it will have the airfield frequency and say in brackets below that the name of the tower you are contacting

WOW I have to digest this but it sounds exactly like what I have been looking for. I'm trying to learn/understand the kneeboard this should help thanks.

James I've mentioned a few times but if you want it I have separate profile for the F-16. It does not cover too much and is a bit "belt and braces" as you can do a lot of the stuff with Vaicom already.

What it does do is select kneeboard pages, tunes the radio TACAN and ILS, here is something similar in the F-18 demo-ing the kneeboard, apologies it's way too long as I was demonstrating how it all worked.

You just add the profile onto the backend of Vaicom as a separate profile.

I hardly ever used the kneeboard before I had it but now I use it quite a lot

If you think it would help just let me know and I'll give you a DropBox link with it

Ok no problems I'll need to mod the profile a little but should get it done today.

Feel free to mod anything in it or delete stuff out of it you don't want no problems

If you don't know how to piggyback/daisychain another profile onto Vaicom skip to 8:20 on Hollywood's video here

I'll post up the link to the profile soon

Howdy Folks

After the recent update i encountered some problem regarding the Viper. VAICOM recognizes all my inputs as VHF altough UHF is activated. In the PTT menu it is correctly recognized but VA says im talking over VHF. After pressing the same key 2 to 3 times then UHF is recognized. And vice verse (UHF as VHF). In addition no radio recognizes the frequency dialed in in DCS (radio 0, 000.000 Mhz). Strangly enough, DCS itself recognizes all inputs as UHF however no response. I thought it might be related to the Version so i updated to 2.5.12.2 but the problem stil persists. Any ideas?

you have probably noticed that the VHF channel, Comm2 in the viper, sits on TX1 in the VAICOM PTT tab and that the UHF channel, comm1 in the viper, is on TX2.

That shouldn't stop them working, but you do need to press the TX1 button for VHF and vice versa.

Yes i noticed that and yes i did so. However, situation is still as described. Wenn I press TX1 for VHF, UHF is recognized by VA. After i pressed TX1 for like 3 times, finally UHF is shown in VA. However, its not functional

did you delete the export.lua file after you updated DCS?

that normally shows by not displaying the module name in the PTT window and not getting the PTT buttons right, but still worth asking

I've just tried and it appears to be working.

Do you have the latest version of VAICOM Pro, 2.5.12.2? This is a very recent new update

Have you reset the 'Use custom DCS path' if you have DCS installed in a non-standard folder? this can lead to some odd behaviour, which i had once, but i'm not certain it was like yours. Just press the SET button and select your main top-level DCS folder.

For both of the above, i don't think that a restart of VA is necessary, but it probably wouldn't hurt to do so.

You will be able to tell that i'm no expert, but these should be worth trying, until someone else dives in, if you are at a loss.

Try disabling SRS mode.

Thanks, that solved the problem. Is it VAICOM related or what could be the problem here? In the past this worked beautifully without problems.

Open the VAICOM config menu, switch to "about" tab and click on "List". It will display your license code, purchase ID and purchase email.

Edit: Sorry, i overread that you are already on a new machine. I would suggest to to open a support ticket or contact info@vaicompro.com directly for license key support related stuff.

Btw i got another question out of interest that might have been asked already but i wasn't able to find an answer on: Why does VAICOM limits AWACS on the VHF band? From my knowledge they are even most of the time on UHF but I'm open for any elucidation :book:
