tmansteve Posted December 30, 2017 Posted December 30, 2017 Since the latest update to 1.5, I have started to use the saved games folder for some plane mods. Is this the best way to go for other mods? I have a couple of sound mods and cockpit mods that I want to use. If I add the same folder structure from DCS root folder to my saved games, then point jsgme to saved games folder, will that work? I noticed that with 2.1 and above, this seems to be the way to go. Cheers
Morpheus Posted December 30, 2017 Posted December 30, 2017 Mods\aircraft\tech and sounds have the same folder structures but skins\cockpit mods no. You must create a "Liveries" folder in ..\Saved Games\DCS (openalpha/beta). In this folder you have to create one folder per aircraft, JSGME/OvGME can do it for you but when you uninstall one mod don't know how JSGME manage it for the others (ex: ..\Liverieq\L-39C) and copy/paste skin into it, cockpit mods go in Liveries\name of cockpit folder (ex: ...\Liveries\Cockpit_F-15C). So you have to make special JSGME mod with good structure. Hope this help you :smilewink:
tmansteve Posted December 30, 2017 Author Posted December 30, 2017 Thanks Morpheus I have managed to direct jsgme to my saved games folder and created a mods folder with the aircrafts etc. I will look into the other folder structures and do some testing. If it works, then happy days Cheers for your input
Rudel_chw Posted December 31, 2017 Posted December 31, 2017 Since the latest update to 1.5, I have started to use the saved games folder for some plane mods. Is this the best way to go for other mods? I have a couple of sound mods ... My experience has been that Mods that ADD things (a new plane, a new ship, a new livery) work fine on Saved Games ... but Mods that modify an existing game file, like new sounds, new terrain textures, etc ... do not work on Saved Games, only on Program Files (and most likely they break the Integrity Check on multiplayer). Rudel_chw Posted December 31, 2017 Posted December 31, 2017 Hmmm? https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=3249762&postcount=59 I meant sounds that modify an existing plane's .. like a new engine sound for the M2000. tmansteve Posted December 31, 2017 Author Posted December 31, 2017 I am only interested in the mods that are there to enhance the sim. It is a real pity that the ground texture mods seem to have been hard hit for some reason. Unless I buy the Nevada map and install 2.1, the 1.5 users have no desert to fly in. I might be wrong, but I will keep trying
