Samoht Posted December 30, 2017 Posted December 30, 2017 I've been having problems with a small number of players taking advantage of some exploit in multiplayer, allowing them to somehow slew their aircraft to extremely high altitudes, and then drop it to the airport at very high speed. The impact causes what is effectively a nuclear explosion and destroys the airbase. It appears this can be done with any airplane with no weapons equipped. Does anyone know how they're doing this, or more importantly, how to stop it (short of using integrity check on the server). This seems like a bug, as I can't think of any use case where this should be allowed in multiplayer. Mars Exulte Posted December 30, 2017 Posted December 30, 2017 If you don't have integrity check enabled, it's possible to modify loadouts. I.E. they may ACTUALLY have a nuclear weapon onboard, or something else. For example, people have been known to add AIM-54s to aircraft that aren't supposed to have them, etc. If you're running an open-to-public, non-passworded server, you don't really have a choice. Hackers and exploiters will result, at least occasionally. Short of integrity check, the only real option you have is banning offenders and hoping they don't persistently choose to grief your server, or they get bored after a while and move on. Exorcet Posted December 30, 2017 Posted December 30, 2017 With triggers you might be able to force despawn aircraft at certain speeds and altitudes. You would need to do it per plane though and also make sure that it doesn't catch people who just might be lagging. Since it's an aerobatics server, all of the airport inventories have been cleared of munitions. It was my understanding that, even though you can modify your aircraft's loadout, you still need to have access to weapons (which aren't available on this server). From the client side, it's still possible to load a nuke? That said, the method of detonation is always the same: go straight up, then drop it down like a meteor. Mars Exulte Posted December 30, 2017 Posted December 30, 2017 Oh, I don't know that specifically, I neither own a server nor cheat, so I don't know more specifics :P You probably know more about it than me, it sounds like Де вороги, знайдуться козаки їх перемогти. 5800x3d * 3090 * 64gb * Reverb G2
droopy114 Posted December 31, 2017 Posted December 31, 2017 This bug could explain alot on what happened today on DCS_nl server with my team mate.... something like a big explosion, similar to nuke, but no Mig21 in flight (the 21 is the only aircraft who can carry a nuke, isn't it?) and destroy everything on the airport. Server have no integrity check.
Coug4r Posted December 31, 2017 Posted December 31, 2017 True, people should be able to use their performance optimized custom ground textures. I've seen this as well, scorched airfield(s) and seemingly exploding players out of nowhere when there was no enemy AC near and no bomber either right after it happens so some meteor/sturzkampf kinda action might be possible. Even more when it happens on the AO server too. Maybe we can get a tacview to trap this and get some scripts in action to prevent it. If i find out anything i'll post it here. - If man were meant to fly he'd be filled with helium.

I captured the logs, track, and Tacview of the particular instance I was talking about. To capture this exploit via scripting would require a lot short interval polling of all players since this exploit is so fast. It's something to investigate, but for now I'm running integrity check. ED: if you want the full logs, I will share them privately. 1 Aerobatics Online Server Admin Gaming Rig: i7 7700k @ 4.6, Nvidia GTX-1080Ti, 16GB DDR4, 1TB NVMe SDD.
