DCS: I-16 by OctopusG

 

 

 

 

I-16 - Soviet single-engine monoplane fighter of 1930s created by aircraft designer Nikolai Polikarpov’s design bureau. It was the one of the world’s first fighters with landing gear retraction system. It was I-16 which stood the air fighting against famous Messerschmitt Bf 109.

 

Over a period of its history I-16 was upgraded a lot. New modifications of aircraft were created and adopted almost every year. I-16 type 24 was further development of I-16 type 18.

 

It is one of the most famous fighters taking part in World War II. It was different from all its “contemporaries” in configuration and flight characteristics. Its uniqueness and distinction were defined by minimum size, dome-shaped fuselage, small wing, dorsal spine.

Come ha detto qualcuno ora non ha un senso "bellico" ma più "esplorativo", nel senso che chi lo prende lo fa più per sentire come si comporta in volo un aereo così particolare piuttosto che andare nei server WWII a fare kill.

Credo che la controparte più bilanciata sia un aereo italiano come il G.50 o MC.200, in tal modo si potrebbero simulare sia eventi WWII che della Guerra Civile Spagnola, non mi vengono in mente altri aerei così "primitivi".

DCS: I-16 Now Available!

 

The Polikarpov I-16 fighter, developed by 3rd party studio OctopusG, is now available for download!

 

The I-16 was a Soviet, monoplane fighter developed during the 1930s inter-war years. It was innovative for its time with a low-wing cantilever design and retractable landing gear. It was the USSR’s primary fighter at the start of World War 2 where it primarily battled the Bf 109 Emil. In addition to the Second World War, the I-16 was also used in the Spanish Civil War and the second Sino-Japanese War.

 

 

 

The I-16 type 24 was powered by an M-63 radial engine that gave it a top speed of 462 kph. The aircraft was armed with four 7.62 ShKAS machine guns. In total, 7,000 single seat versions of this famous fighter were built.

 

The I-16 is a fun and interesting aircraft and further grows our stable of warbirds. This aircraft is particularly interesting when flown in virtual reality.

Anche un Fiat cr32 o 42 anche se biplani si potrebbero confrontare con il nano russo, anche ve ovviamente più vetusti e inferiori come prestazioni (forse)
