TEMPEST.114 Posted January 8, 2018 Posted January 8, 2018 Is it possible to increase the frequency that Helios updates? I'm asking because on my two screen setup, the Helios profile is quite jerky (sometimes it goes mental for 5 seconds - all gauges going crazy - and then goes back to normal), but when it's working 'normally' it's still not smooth. I mainly fly the Huey and the turn / slip indicator and the VSI are terribly laggy. I've just done a fresh install of Windows 10, Helios and DCS (that's all that on there) and it's still laggy. Any way to increase the refresh rate? Thanks
BaD CrC Posted January 8, 2018 Posted January 8, 2018 You have an option in the Helios settings that just do that. But I never had gauges going crazy. https://www.blacksharkden.com http://discord.gg/blacksharkden
Deezle Posted January 8, 2018 Posted January 8, 2018 Do you happen to be using SimShaker? I found my SimShaker and Helios did not play nice together, however Ikarus works just fine. TEMPEST.114 Posted January 8, 2018 Author Posted January 8, 2018 Hi. I did look in the settings, I couldn't see where that is... can you please elaborate 'cause it's not in the manual either. And no, I don't have a sim shaker.
Bullant Posted January 8, 2018 Posted January 8, 2018 Sounds like there might be a problem with your setup, I have never had any issues with lag/jitter in helios even using CaptZeen's fairly complex profiles. romeokilo Posted January 9, 2018 Posted January 9, 2018 I've got lagging problems with my Helios set up as well. Even on a fresh Windows install, and only Helios and dcs installed I get issues. Never found out how to fix it. Are you using an Nvidia Graphics Card? I figured mine was a driver issue.
TEMPEST.114 Posted January 9, 2018 Author Posted January 9, 2018 Okay, so I don't know about the person who said there is a setting in Helios to change it. If there is one please tell me where because after 20 mins going in and out of every bit of it, I can't find it. I DID however find something in export.lua that has two constant variables that determine when an update is triggered. I changed the values here and it's made a big difference....I'm wary that such frequent updates could get out of sync or miss something, but I'll have to keep my eye out for those. Here's the changes to export.lua in your personal Saved Games DCS folder: ---------- -- DATA -- ---------- gHost = "127.0.0.1" gPort = 9089 gExportInterval = 0.01 -- frequency of export events (sec) gExportLowTickInterval = 0.5 -- export events call ProcessLowImportance every this many events. As you can probably guess (which is what I did) I decreased by a factor of 10 the gExportInterval and quartered the gExportLowTickInterval My needles are smoother, although the ball on the turn/slip is still very jerky but I'm wondering if that's a function of Helios rather than the data updates... ???
