Ok, this is really really really really really really really really really really dumb , but what does "angles" mean when AWACS calls you. I know it relates to altitude, but i never actually figured it out.

DCS Wishlist: 1) FIX THE DAMN RIVERS!!! 2) Spherical or cylindrical panorama view projection. 3) Enhanced input options (action upon button release, etc). 4) Aircraft flight parameter dump upon exit (stick posn, attitude, rates, accel, control volume, control-surface positions, SAS bias, etc). 5) ADS-33 maneuver courses as static objects. 6) Exposed API or exports of trim position and stick force for custom controllers. 7) Select auto multiple audio devices

He's at a higher altitude than you, and he's trying to get on your six, three, or nine. Either way he's trying to get a better position on you, and would be a good idea to maneuver.

Okay, I will explain a couple things, so bare with me and read carefully.

Angels low: Below 10000'

Angels med: 10000' - 30000'

Angels high: 30000' +

These numbers might not be exactly accurate, but more or less.

AWACS hot, cold, and flanking calls:

REAL WORLD

Hot: Bandit is pointing his nose at you

Cold: Bandit has his tail pointed at you

Flanking: Bandit is beaming you

Keep in mind that this in NO WAY has anything to do with where YOU are pointing.

LOCK ON

Hot: Positive closure (so even if you are on his tail, and you are gaining, you are 'hot')

Cold: Negative closure

Flanking: Almost no closure and bandit is likely on parallel course with yours.

I checked it before and these are the accurate numbers.

Angels low: Below 5,000' (1,500m)

Angels med: 5,000' - 20,000' (1,500m - 6,000m)

Angels high: 20,000' + (6,000m +)

Ok , now I have a question because I was always lead to believe that nose hot meant that the bandit is active (or radar is active). I think I picked that terminology up from two places :

1.) The Navy

2.) Janes USAF

While refueling they ask you to go nose cold. So maybe I just carried it over into Lomac thinking it was the same terminology but doesnt that make more sense? I dont know Im confused now ... lol. So my question is what does nose hot or cold mean in Lomac and in real life?

I think it refers to whether or not your radar is on or off. But I have been known to be wrong.:D

You could use high/low aspect, but the USAF and NAVY use them differently, so AWACS can't use that. You just understandit from context I guess.

Just a gues on my part, anyway.

And I don't think AWACS says 'nose hot'... just hot or cold.
