I have a GTX 1060 3GB OCV1 from MSI. Good enough for 1080P gaming. I can run GTA V on high settings, in pair with an i3-6100 and i get usually 60-80fps. Of course, on some parts of the map the fps drops to 50. DCS World runs really good. The TGP, Maverick and Shkval seem to buggy because after activating them the fps goes from 100 to some 50.

Am I special?

With the prices so high and my 980 took a hit for the worst and out of warranty. Would i 1060 be a viable option for 1080P 60hz. Until either 20xx series comes out or prices drop somewhat

My condolences on your loss of the 980...

As far as a new one goes, I'm using a GTX 1070, and I'd recommend it as the minimum for a 'great' DCS experience.

The 1060 6GB version is... adequate, but don't expect anything stellar. It'll do the job for 1080p if you don't want to run with most graphics settings at max (which, of course, is what the bulk of the effort recently put into DCS was all about.)

DCS World is a very "1080 Ti-worthy" game, but if you run a single screen at 1080p, you can get away with a 1060 6GB on medium settings and a couple on high. Stay away from the 3GB version of the 1060--it's not suited for DCS World. When it comes to video memory, morer is betterer :)

yeah, that sux with those prices.

Have a broken 980 in RMA currently with Asus, called today, 1 month now, no news :(

Luckily it failed 2 month before warranty ends and I still had the receipt and boxes and all.

I am so lucky I got this 1080Ti just before the prices rocketed 2nd and 3rd time, it was already 200€ above last times flagship. I think 700€/$ should be the absolut max for the Über-Edition GPU and 450-500 for same GPU in FE or standard layout.

Now you pay like 1100€ for a waterblocked card, this is really above any relation to income, family and what else you could do with 1100€.

Even the smallest cards that run DCS somehow nice are WAY above 250-300€. There used to be times when a 250€ card wasnt that bad at all.

The new medium class is 450-550 Euro, that's what most buy, 970, 1070 etc.. plain insane.

The only thing you can do once you really buy one of those cards now, let mine 2-3 month to get the money back, you bought the card anyway, you dont have to feel guilty to do it, I don't.

It somehow remedies my expenses for this expensive card, makes me feel better.

Even with the low BTC I have mined enough since Xmas when I started that I got as much back as this card was over my 980 Poseidon. Fair enough, I dont feel that I have a far too expensive card anymore as it paid back with what it made more expensive, almost a greek drama here LoL.

What goes out, must come back :smilewink:

Hey Chewy, I have one. I am using these settings:

https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=3387061&postcount=11

and playing with solid 60 fps (Vsync). I am very happy with it (working on a 1920x1080). Paid 300€ and change, when the 1080Ti was running at >1k€

I am following the same strategy: saved a few money there, and waiting for next gen Vega/VR combo
