LoL, WOW, thats is a nice way of saying " Yea we tell our friends here in our country what is going on with the development, forget everyone else in the world. Hmm seems like they had the same idea when all the American Aircraft were made for the game, (wow 2 AC). I could see the talk around the dev meeting when Lock on was born...... "Hey why dont we make a sim with our planes in it and give them the upper hand with weapons that will shred us aircraft to bits. But we will give the other countries 2 aircraft to fly and give them several different weapons that will miss their target most of the time, Oh and forgot lets give the f-15 a radar that will not show an aircraft 15 miles off my 12."

Thats my .10 cents, and with some of the Q&A going on around here, you would think that ED, and the beta testers would be a little more customer service like, rather than from what I have seen as nothing more than, and it seems like childish fighting (The "Mom he's touching me" syndrome).

Finally! A well thought out, balanced, and constructive argument on these forums.

Thanks.

I'm sure Black Shark will be pretty darn nice when it is released. I just wish that it was sooner rather than later. :)

I'm not purview to the details, but AFAIK Lock On was born in a publisher meeting at Ubisoft. Same place the inclusion of the F-15 into the project was conceived, by the way.

Prior to Ubisoft's buying the project, there was an add-on project to Flanker 2.5, dubbed 'Flanker: Attack' at the time, which was to feature - you guessed it - the Su-25T, with the A-10 and the Ka-50 as potential add-ons.

Don't mince words, Mike, tell us how you REALLY feel. :D ED is a Russian developer, so their target audience likes Russian aircraft, but they actually did a fair job with the US flyables. Weapons that will shred US aircraft to bits? The Russian air-to-air missiles are pretty weak, actually. I'm not absolutely convinced that they are this way IRL, but they are weak in the game, and very easy to take advantage of against the AI. Get an experienced human driver in the cockpit though, and the Archer is going to make you dead...just as it is IRL. Are you referring to surface-to-air systems maybe? Well...the A-10 was never intended as a SEAD platform, but you can use it as such in LOMAC, you just have to spend hours calculating the general weaknesses and reload times of each system. After that, the ground forces can't touch you. Ground-based IR missiles? Iglas are scary because you can't see their launcher, but Strelas are an easy kill. Its just a matter of detecting the launch vehicle in your TVM, and playing chicken with him so you can launch close enough for him to not get a good shot on your 65.

While this is a common assumption on the Western forums, it isn't actually true. The money to be made on the Russian market is practically negligible compared to the West. Neither ED's choices of flyable aircraft, nor their unfortunately misperceived bias toward their combat capabilities, has much to do with the Russian market.

Anyway, what was called "Modern Air Combat" in 2003 cannot be sold anymore under that title. Avionics have so dramatically changed since, that Lockon Gold makes me think of these CD collections with Golden Oldies hat you can buy on TV.

If you switch back from the F4:AF Block 52 CCIP into the F-15C cockpit, it's like a timewarp.

In fact, they should sell Black Shark as a separate title and offer Lockon as a Bonus, like "Lockon Remembers" or "Lockon: The Golden Years of Air Combat"

Since I'm an Aviation History enthousiast Lomac will always have a place on my PC, joining titles as "WWI: The Great Air War" and "Wings Over Vietnam".
