Sephyrius Posted February 18, 2018 Posted February 18, 2018 The Hover Stop is actually a mechanical stop, you just can't adjust it like you can with the STO Stop. I think you have to lift the nozzle lever over this mechanical hover stop. I wish we'd have a keybinding/game mechanic option to simulate that. For example, the throttle stops at 'hover stop' and a simultaneous button press is required for it to move past hover stop towards reversing.
Mars Exulte Posted February 19, 2018 Posted February 19, 2018 Well if people are reporting that they're following the proper procedure and not getting the right result that doesn't point towards a noob mistake does it? Procedure still requires common sense regarding application. As I already said, wind, slight variations in pitch or roll, your loadout, etc all affect the results. Let me also emphasise a key point : When you're on the ground, you ARE flat and level, by definition (note the position of the carat). If you orient yourself in any other fashion you are by definition NOT flat and level. Irrespective, you will still have to make minor situational adjustments to achieve a stable hover. And lastly, the NATOPS manual might apply when the product is finished and all systems fully fleshed out, however it is not a reliable source for the STILL IN DEV aircraft at this point. Use the ACTUAL manual included with the product first... and again, it still requires common sense application. That doesn't rule out a glitch or other variable, as I said, I am not there and have no idea what he is doing. However people have been having similar issues since it launched, always with the same point passing them by: Whether it is working 100% or not... you will ALWAYS have to make minor corrections on a case by case basis. Period, full stop. The hover stop is not an autopilot. It's just there to help you put the nozzles in the correct(ish) position. You have to make do afterward. I personally don't use the stops, and keep the nozzles on a thumb wheel so I can rapidly adjust them on the fly. I orient the nose according to the approximate position when on the ground, and the fine tune the nozzles between 80-90 degrees until the aircraft is stable. I use whatever setting achieves that. Flamin_Squirrel Posted February 19, 2018 Posted February 19, 2018 So you agree there's an issue but people shouldn't complain because they should be able to deal with it?

Rhino182 Posted February 19, 2018 Posted February 19, 2018 Personally i just adujst the nozzles until the needle is direct down, and then just balnce that and the attitude of the aircraft. If you need practise, try flying alongside a moving carrier, matching speed, i find this to be a really good exercise DCS Modules: UH1H | MI8 | F/A18C | FC3 | L-39 | AV8B | Viggen | Combined Arms | F-14 | F-16 | Yak-52 | F-15E | F4

No, that isn't what I said, it's also not possible for me to explain myself any simpler and I'm tired of repeating myself. Have fun.
