dmwierz Posted February 23, 2018 Posted February 23, 2018 Ok, group, total noob question here. I've gotten my Samsung Odyssey installed and running a number of games through Steam VR. I downloaded and installed DCS 2.5 from the ED web site, but the problem is, when I launch DCS, it seems I can ONLY run DCS in VR mode...not only that, but in VR mode, I'm dumped into a hangar, with the main DCS screen floating in mid-air, and have no ability to move, or even to use my mouse. I haven't been able to set up my joystick or anything. I was eventually able to "gaze" at some of the menu items on the DCS home screen floating in the hangar, and click my mouse (the only function of my mouse that seems to work), but after selecting something like "quick action" and "Fly", I'm dumped into a cockpit, sitting WAY too low (and no way to change my position), and the only control that works is roll & pitch on my yet-to-be-setup joystick. What if I want to play 2D on my flat screen, and not VR? Help!!! i9-9900K @5.1Ghz w/ 32GB RAM, RTX2080 Super w/ 8G, Samsung Odyssey VR HMD, 1 TB SSD, VKB Gladiator MKII, TM TWCS throttle, Saitek Pro Yoke, Saitek Throttle Quadrant x2, CH Pro Pedals, Obutto Ozone
FragBum Posted February 23, 2018 Posted February 23, 2018 with rift i have to un plug it to run on normal screen also you may need to run dcs on full screen goto vr settings and i think its 'use mouse' tick that and see if that allows you to sellect things back in vr. also in vr if you have a pointer device that might work to select stuff sorry about all lower case long story Control is an illusion which usually shatters at the least expected moment. Gazelle Mini-gun version is endorphins with rotors. See above. Currently rolling with a Asus Z390 Prime, 9600K, 32GB RAM, SSD, 2080Ti and Windows 10Pro, Rift CV1. bu0836x and Scratch Built Pedals, Collective and Cyclic.
dmwierz Posted February 24, 2018 Author Posted February 24, 2018 Thanks, guys, that helps. It’s kinda odd how VR is enabled as a default. I mean, I had to disable it to go in and set up my Gladiator MkII (BTW, does anybody know of any DCS profiles for this stick that I can start with?). i9-9900K @5.1Ghz w/ 32GB RAM, RTX2080 Super w/ 8G, Samsung Odyssey VR HMD, 1 TB SSD, VKB Gladiator MKII, TM TWCS throttle, Saitek Pro Yoke, Saitek Throttle Quadrant x2, CH Pro Pedals, Obutto Ozone
dburne Posted February 24, 2018 Posted February 24, 2018 I use SkateZilla's excellent DCS GUI updater utility for this. Very quick and very easy to do. It has an option to start DCS in non-VR. Click it and DCS launches in 2d on the monitor. No unplugging or disabling. https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=160053 Don B EVGA Z390 Dark MB | i9 9900k CPU @ 5.1 GHz | Gigabyte 4090 OC | 64 GB Corsair Vengeance 3200 MHz CL16 | Corsair H150i Pro Cooler |Virpil CM3 Stick w/ Alpha Prime Grip 200mm ext| Virpil CM3 Throttle | VPC Rotor TCS Base w/ Alpha-L Grip| Point Control V2|Varjo Aero|
dmwierz Posted February 24, 2018 Author Posted February 24, 2018 Don, that sounds like a handy app to have. dburne Posted February 24, 2018 Posted February 24, 2018 Don, that sounds like a handy app to have. Thanks! Your most welcome. It is very handy for sure, I use it whenever I want to go in and work on controller setups, much easier to do on the monitor. dmwierz Posted February 24, 2018 Author Posted February 24, 2018 (edited) Holy cats, I hate being such a noob. So, I installed SkateZilla's app, and now I can't get it to recognize where my Beta version of DCS is located. I find the file in C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World Open Beta\bin, but when I enter that path in the "Open Beta" section, nothing appears in the BUILD TO MANAGE dropdown menu. Yeah it can be a little tricky, seems like I had a little trouble at first, keep working with it you will get it. I can not remember exactly what I did to get it to work, but it does work... Lol, Don, "I'm shakin' it, boss"....I know exactly where my copy of the DCS Beta is located, but still, nothing appears in the "Select Build To Manage" drop down, and in the "Open Beta" area where I put the path, I get "Not Detected". This is the phase of learning new software that is sometimes enough to make a noob like me give up, but I see enough of great value here to persevere. Just hoping the veterans on this board don't lose patience with my dumb questions. i9-9900K @5.1Ghz w/ 32GB RAM, RTX2080 Super w/ 8G, Samsung Odyssey VR HMD, 1 TB SSD, VKB Gladiator MKII, TM TWCS throttle, Saitek Pro Yoke, Saitek Throttle Quadrant x2, CH Pro Pedals, Obutto Ozone

Rather than selecting build to manage first, go down in the left hand side to the column that says Open Beta, and browse to the Open Beta build from that. Once done there, see if it either puts it in the "select build to manage" option of if it will now allow you to select the Open Beta build from there.
