porky Posted February 28, 2007 Posted February 28, 2007 I know it's been mentioned before, but as far as I know a solution is yet to be found. It's a problem with the Lock On "Record AVI" tool: While viewing the map of my edited track, I go to Flight > Record AVI. This comes up, which I assume is normal as I have seen it in other screenshots. http://xs112.xs.to/xs112/07093/lockon3.jpg After selecting the settings above, I click on "Start". Now from what I've heard LO should show the loading screen up to the point it's been told to start recording, and then records the track at a relatively low speed. However, what has happened to me and to others is that it loads for some time, maybe five seconds, and then crashes to the desktop. It still shows in the taskbar, the music still plays, and if I wait a while the sounds of my track play, but other than that, I can't do anything. Also, at the very start, Lock On is unresponsive, but this changes if I wait a while. The only way to quit is to End Task from the Task Manager. http://xs112.xs.to/xs112/07093/lockon1.jpg The only two codecs I have installed (to my knowledge) is DivX and XviD. I'm running Windows XP Home on 1GB of RAM with version 1.12a of Lock On. I have tried leaving it until the audio of my track has finished, and then looking for the avi file, but with no luck. Any suggestions? If I have posted this in the wrong forum, please move...I couldn't decide between Screenshots and Movies and Bugs :D
Aeroscout Posted February 28, 2007 Posted February 28, 2007 Maybe more RAM? I'v never really tried it. DCS Wishlist: 1) FIX THE DAMN RIVERS!!! 2) Spherical or cylindrical panorama view projection. 3) Enhanced input options (action upon button release, etc). 4) Aircraft flight parameter dump upon exit (stick posn, attitude, rates, accel, control volume, control-surface positions, SAS bias, etc). 5) ADS-33 maneuver courses as static objects. 6) Exposed API or exports of trim position and stick force for custom controllers. 7) Select auto multiple audio devices
Solidburn Posted March 1, 2007 Posted March 1, 2007 you're getting more than I do. when I try that Lock On closes "I know Not that which you have said, but if I had medication I would (Robin Williams)" [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
warthogmadman987 Posted March 1, 2007 Posted March 1, 2007 I have the same problems too, but i dont think it is a ram issue...
Andrew_McP Posted March 1, 2007 Posted March 1, 2007 Have a good search through this and the movie section. I gave up using the LOMAC 'record AVI' a long time ago, but there were plenty of discussions about exactly how to make the thing work. For a free tool it's very nice, but it is rather quirky. porky Posted March 1, 2007 Author Posted March 1, 2007 No luck with the graphics driver, I was running the latest version and have tried earlier version also. @Solidburn...Yeah that happened to me before I reinstalled trying to rectify the problem, and now I get a bit of loading. @Andrew...I've tried many suggestions made in the other threads, uninstalling optional programs, leaving nothing running apart from Lock On, trying different settings with no luck whatsoever.
Aeroscout Posted March 1, 2007 Posted March 1, 2007 mmm... do you have other programs running in the background? I know i always do, and it really hinders the game. go into the Task manager and terminate some programs that you dont need. other than that, i dont know what to tell you. porky Posted March 2, 2007 Author Posted March 2, 2007 Nope, ending all processes except those crucial to Windows doesn't work. I'm out of ideas, could there be a codec installed that I'm not noticing?
Willy p. Posted March 2, 2007 Posted March 2, 2007 You know, I have tried in vain on so many attempts to use the “AVI” tool. I gave up along time ago and have come to the conclusion that I will never be a LockOn movie maker…sad but true. With no information in any manual to be found on how to use this tool, you’re left to the mercy of the community for any kind of help. I know that the budget is tight at ED, and manuals are low on the list of priorities of things to do. I just like having something to read so I can better understand things to complicated for me to figure out. Like the AVI tool in LockOn. 44th_Willy p. 187 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] http://44thvfw.org
